A Texas College football player has been booked on murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed his transgender girlfriend.

Carlton Champion, 21, began communicating with 24-year-old Tyrone “Ty” Lee Underwood in mid-January via socializing app Kik. Underwood was living as a woman.

The two had exchanged text messages beginning on Jan. 25 and through the next day. Champion asked Underwood if he wanted to “chill.”

“Carlton bro you saw me kiking you at 11:00 but you chose to be with whoever you was with and now you think you can just (expletive) with me when you want,” Underwood texted, according to People.

Champion said he would make it up to Underwood, and the two made plans to meet up.

Footage shows Champion leaving his dorm room on Jan. 26, and returning 15 minutes later. Police believe Champion shot and killed Underwood within that time.

On the same day, a woman living in a Tyler community in close proximity to Texas College called the police to report that a red Toyota Camry had hit a pole. Another witness claimed that they heard gunshots. When police arrived, they reported the deceased person in the vehicle appeared to be a woman and had multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities are not sure at where Underwood was shot, but it appeared she was shot outside and inside the car. She most likely drove out of control, as a result of her injuries. There were signs Champion had been in the vehicle.

Investigators spoke to Underwood’s friend and discovered that she was seeing a man named Carlton. The investigators, then, learned their suspect attended the nearby college. Blood was found on Champion’s jacket, upon a search. He was arrested on Jan. 29.

Officer Nathan Elliott wrote in an affidavit that Champion’s father told authorities that his son thought Underwood was a woman. His son was supposedly meeting Underwood to receive a sexual favor, but then he discovered that the victim was a male.

However, based on communication between the Carlton and Underwood, police believe differently. They suspect that Champion knew of Underwood’s sex and the two were engaged in a “sexual relationship.”

“There’s no hate crime,” Officer Don Martin told People. “Evidence that was located indicate that they were both aware -– through more than a friendship relationship –- what they were getting into.”

Champion is being held at Gregg County jail on a bond of $1 million.

Memorializing the deceased perso’s profile page is nothing new on Facebook, but as of Thursday, users can choose who will control their page after they pass away.

The new Legacy Contact feature enables users to pick a family member or friend to maintain their page after death. The trustworthy chosen one can upload pictures and cover photos, create timeline posts, and even add new friends to the deceased’s profile. The feature will even allow the option of downloading a copy of everything that the departed had shared on the network.

The living user, however, will not be able to sign in as the deceased, nor will they be able to read the person’s private messages.

The profile will have “Remembering” above the person’s name.

To modify the feature, users can go to their security settings. Once a person is chosen as the Legacy Contact, there is also the option of notifying this person that they have been chosen to eventually take over the page.

Facebook also gives members the option of having their posthumous page permanently removed.

The Legacy Contact feature is only available in the U.S., although Facebook says it is working toward making it available abroad.

According to reports, hundreds of thousands of pages have been memorialized, such as the three young Muslims who were recently killed near UNC-Chapel Hill, since the feature was introduced.

Countess Vaughn has joined the butt selfie movement on social media by posting a curve-flaunting photo to her Instagram to show off her weight loss. What came with it was a lot of backlash, despite the fact that she was trying to show off her tremendous hard work that her body is showing. While clapping back at critics, the former Parkers star brought up Kim Kardashian to defend her case, as her butt selfies, or “belfies” as many call them, have been praised by many.

In a recent interview, Countess remarked, “It’s crazy because people like Kim Kardashian—she’s a mother—she can go and show a picture with no problem, but I guess it was just too much booty, honey. Some cheeks they can’t handle and I guess mine was doing too much. It’s okay, I’m standing up for those girls who look like me. They want to see themselves so, at the end of the day, that’s what I’m all about. There’s a market for girls who look just like me and that’s who I’m entertaining and that’s that. There’s nothing wrong with us loving our bodies. It doesn’t start at size 8. You don’t get down to a size 8 and say, ‘Okay, I can love me now.’ You have got to love yourself wherever you’re at.”

Many “Hollywood Divas” viewers watched Countess as she decided to under go plastic surgery during season 1 of the TV One reality show. She didn’t exactly feel support from her co-stars, but Countess didn’t let that deter her, nor did she let Twitter haters bring her down.

Despite the comments not fazing her too intensely, she did mention what she wants her critics to know about her, saying, “Don’t try to hurt me, now. When it gets to the point when you say you want to meet me out in the streets and hurt me over a picture, well that’s not what I’m about. It’s self-love. I love myself.”

Fans are all worried about Bobbi Kristina Brown, as she is currently in a medically-induced coma in a Georgia hospital after being found unconscious in her bathtub. Over the weeks, tons of speculation surfaced that the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was to be taken off of life support, and that she lost a tremendous amount of brain activity. One of her aunts, Leolah Brown, spoke out on the family’s behalf, and revealed the progress of her niece’s health.

“There are so many signs showing us that she will be OK. Krissi is fine,” Leolah said during a sit-down interview with Fox 5. According to Leolah, Bobbi seems to be improving, rather than going downhill like many have reported. When asked if she was getting better, she answered, “Yes, ma’am. She’s opening her eyes. Krissi is doing well right now. She is.”

Leolah also talked about what happened the moment she saw Bobbi in the hospital for the first time. “I was very numb when I saw her,” she said.

Despite the progress, things have certainly been tough for Bobbi’s father, Bobby Brown, as he nearly skipped out on his birthday celebrations while spending the day at the hospital by her side.

Leolah revealed, “It’s been very, very painful for everybody. Mainly Bobby, because that’s his baby.” Even though she is doing better, Bobbi is still reported to be on life support, but there is no word on whether she will be taken off in the near future.

Kandi Burruss has been starring on the reality show Real Housewives of Atlanta for many seasons, and while there are tons of benefits to it, there are some negatives that can come with it. The former Xscape singer recently stopped by The Rickey Smiley Morning Show, and she revealed some of her least favorite things about working on “RHOA.”

One of the things she hates most about working on the show is that two people can have drama go down on camera, squash the beef off camera, but then see it all unfold again when the episode airs. That stirs up emotions again.

“I don’t know what the other girls say about me, until I watch it on television. So when there’s talking in their interviews, making smart comments, or there was a scene I wasn’t in, I don’t know what happened. Just like you, I’m watching every week to see. It makes the person mad all over again,” Kandi explained.

She also said that looking on social media, and the many followers who comment on photos, or respond on Twitter, it “hypes you up even more.”

Kandi also responded to critics who wonder why the women always tell each other what was said about them in their absence. She explained that airing their issues is part of the process and necessary for the show.

“People be like, ‘Why she had to go talk about that? Why she have to go and tell Todd [Tucker]?’…First of all, if anything is said on camera, while we are taping, it has to be said again when you see that person, or else how is the story going to continue going? You just have to be honest about whatever was already discussed. It’s not necessarily a person is messy and wants to go back and tell things. It’s just it was already said on-camera, so the person’s going to find out anyway, so you have to talk about it. It is what it is.”

4 oz. Grapefruit Soda
0.5 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

Instructions:
Add all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish with an orange wedge.

Hennessy Guava
Ingredients:
• 1.5 oz Hennessy V.S
• 2-3 Strawberry Slices
• 1 lime wedge
• 2oz Guava Juice
• Glass: Rocks

Instructions:
• Muddle strawberries and lime wedge in a shaker tin. Add all other ingredients with ice. Shake until chilled, strain into a rocks glass with ice and garnish with a strawberry.

1.75 oz. Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition
1 oz. Cocchi Vermouth di Torino
0.5 oz. Cointreau Noir
Dash Angostura Bitters
Orange twist, for garnish

Instructions
In a mixing glass, stir all of the ingredients with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with an orange zest.

Someone Else’s Girl

2 oz. The Famous Grouse
¾ oz. Lemon Juice
¾ oz. Liqueur de Violettes
½ oz. Raspberry Syrup
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
1 Egg White

Instructions:
Combine all ingredients except ice and bitters in a shaker and shake vigorously. Add ice and shake again. Strain into a cocktail glass and top with bitters. Garnish with a raspberry.

Sumac Me Smile

Ingredients:
2 oz. Boodles Gin
0.75 oz. Pomegranate Juice
0.25 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
0.5 oz. Sumac Syrup**
1 dash Grapefruit Bitters

Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice and shake vigorously. Pour over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Add a splash of club soda. Garnish with a long lemon peel.

**Sumac simple syrup: To make one quart: Bring 16 ounces water to a boil. Remove from heat. Add 6 tablespoons ground sumac. Steep 10 minutes. Add 16 ounces white granulated sugar. Stir until dissolved. Let steep overnight, then strain through fine mesh.

Ed note: Sumac is a spice used in Middle Eastern/Asian dishes that has a citrusy tartness. If it’s not available,  just use regular simple syrup.

Pinnacle Ruby Seduction

Ingredients:
1 part Pinnacle Original Vodka
1 part JDK & Sons Fleur Liqueur
2 parts Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice

Instructions:
Mix in a glass with ice and top it off with a lemon wedge.

Kimye‘s baby girl North West had a hectic week as she sat front row at her father’s Adidas runway show this Thursday and then front row again for the Alexander Wang runway show Saturday. The 19-month-old wasn’t all smiles and giggles though as she took in the never-before-seen fashions. She cried, wined and frowned throughout most of the show as she sat on her mother’s lap. Kanye tried to cheer her up but only made failed attempts. Looks like someone needs less fashion and more sleep?!

Kanye and Kim brought Nori front row to watch her auntie Kendall Jenner who donned all-black-everything and gothic make-up as she walked in the Alexander Wang show. Throughout the event North proved her age as she became agitated during most of the presentation. Femcee Nicki Minaj who sat next to the it couple tried to offer a hand to North in an attempt to calm her down. We’re still not sure if that tactic worked.

This isn’t the first time North West became impatient during a runway show. Baby Nori made headlines last week when she was spotted having a mini-tantrum while sitting front row with the likes of Beyonce, Jay Z, P Diddy and Anna Wintour during her father’s Adidas debut.

In response to his daughter’s outburst, Kanye had this to say, “Maybe she was just scared for her daddy. She just wanted people to stop being mean to her daddy. Because she knows that her daddy loves the world and just wants to make it a more beautiful place.”

Well that’s it folks! When North cries, she cries for Yeezus.

No surprise here, Azealia Banks is involved in more twitter beef. On Thursday, a fan tweeted Erykah Badu asking her if she had ever listened to Azealia Banks’s music. Apparently, Badu simply replied that she “tried” to listen to her music. Erykah’s response didn’t sit well with Ms. Banks, and in typical Azealia fashion, she went in.

The Barbados queen Rihanna slays once again as the cover girl for W Korea’s March 2015 10th Anniversary issue. Rihanna stars in not one but three covers for the Korean magazine. She shared the big news after spending Valentine’s day at the Barclays Center for all the fabulous Allstar Weekend festivities.

In the first cover, Rih stands boldly in a white skin tight dress with zipper details. She tops off the look with a white tuxedo jacket and smoky makeup.

In the second cover, Rihanna rocks a long cobalt blue coat ans red strappy heels with bowtie details. She finishes off the look with a printed hair scarf and a nude lip.

The third and last shot from Rih’s W Korea magazine features a closeup of the singer looking more stunning than ever. Wearing a mustard colored vest in satin and heaps of statement jewelry, Rih proves exactly why she deserves to be the 10th anniversary cover girl.

Ironically, W Korea is not the only one celebrating a 10 year anniversary. Rihanna tweeted this week that she was celebrating 10 years since she signed a record deal.

Congrats Rih on 10 years in the game and nabbing W Korea’s March issue 3 times!

You would never guess Kelly Rowland had a baby a little over three months ago. Sunday, while attending the Public School show during New York Fashion Week, Rowland stunned attendees when she showed off her classic style and slim post baby bod.

The singer slipped on a black mini-dress and coupled them with her Christian Louboutin knee-high boots making sure to show off a little leg. She added a printed grey long jacket which she wore under a black fur winter coat, a number we’re sure kept her warm in the cold New York weather. To top off the look, the new mom rocked a stylish hat and neutral make up.

Rowland’s fly appearance comes after welcoming her son, Titan, with husband Tim Witherspoon to the world. Its clear her new mommy duties haven’t distracted her from her time at the gym. Looking good Kelly!

Sunday night marked the 40th year anniversary of the famed “Saturday Night Live” comedy sketch show. Old and current cast mates came together for a night of comedy, laughter and music as they celebrated the timeless show. One of the nights musical performers included Kanye West who performed not one but three songs during the live telecast.

Kanye kicked off his three song set with an unusual performance for “Jesus Walks”. The always innovative rapper laid flat on his back as the camera captured his movements and sound. He spit the entire song laying down and of course he didn’t miss a beat.

For his second song, Kanye performed his emotional Paul McCartney assisted ballad “Only One”. He was joined on stage by fresh faced rapper Vic Mensa and the always camouflaged songstress Sia. During the song, the artists were contained in an extremely tight area with limited space and movement. It was certainly a sight that hasn’t been seen on the SNL stage before.

Only a few days after debuting his new single “Wolves” at his Adidas New York Fashion show, the rapper brought his new track to life with a mind blowing visual performance to wrap up his SNL 40 set. Although there hasn’t been an official title or release date for his upcoming album, we can expect “Wolves” will be a part of his new project.

VH1 is on the fifth season of “Love & Hip Hop: New York” and for some reason we thought that the individual relationships of the cast couldn’t get any worse than Tahiry Jose snubbing a marriage proposal from her on-again-off-again boyfriend Joe Budden, or Erica Mena was dating girlfriend Cyn Santana, while still looking for love with Rich Dollaz, or Tara Wallace finding out her then-boyfriend Peter Gunz got married behind her back. Boy, were we wrong! With some new cast members on the scene, there are new trials and tribulations on the love front. We’re talking about children being labeled pets, fake business trips, and faulty acts of birth control — all in the name of love. There are a lot of similarities between each of the relationships, but like everything else on LHHNY, there are levels to this sh*t. Let’s do some analyzing and see who reigns supreme when it comes to overdoing it in the name of love — or hate, as is often the case on LHHNY.

We Luh the Kids

This season, there is a lot going on when it comes to the cast and their children, and in some cases, the lack thereof. They either have kids, are having kids, or are trying to have a kid. But no matter what, the way they’re playing the kiddie card is a bust.

First up, you have the infamous love triangle between Amina Buddafly, Peter Gunz, and Tara Wallace. This season, the cameras capture Amina expecting her first child with Peter, who is still trying to win back to his ex, Tara. Amina admits that he doesn’t come home to her at night, which Peter also admits, but credits his disappearance to spending time with his other children and also working in the studio. Scene after scene, Peter is googly eyeing Tara, kissing her up, and doing his best to show her that he is still interested in being with her, regardless of the fact that he has a baby on the way with his WIFE. Peter! Peter! Peter! How long will you use your children to have your cake and eat it too? The answer to that is however long Tara will allow him to do so. Just because he is the father of your children does not mean he has to spend the night and play house with you, especially when you know the situation he has at home. Proudly though, Tara finally let Peter know that he needs to just be there for his children and let her live her life. Does he do that? I guess we have to tune in to the reunion special to find out.

Next at bat regarding questionable parenting decisions are the two new rookies of the cast, aspiring model Diamond Strawberry and CEO/ producer Cisco Rosado. Nothing good can ever come from hiding or denying your children while in a relationship. And they both did this! After dating for two years, Diamond finally decided to come clean and let Cisco know that she has a 6-year-old daughter, to which he replied, “You lied and told me your daughter is your dog.” YES!!! Diamond told Cisco that when she referenced her “dog,” she was actually referring to her daughter. Saying your child is your dog? Can it get more shameful than that? Cisco in turn comes clean to Diamond about his 6-month-old son. If you’re good at math, then you have already put two and two together to make out that his baby was conceived while they were in a relationship. What’s worst, lying about your daughter being a dog or acting like you didn’t have a newborn while in a separate relationship? You all can decide.

Finally for the home run, are Chrissy Monroe and her boo thang Chink Santana. These two actually make a decent couple when you weed out all the baggage, but when you do that, you are only left with a cute couple. Chink is married with children but abandoned that situation to nurture his new relationship with Chrissy. Episode after episode, Chrissy expresses her love for Chink and dire need to start a family, which Chink gracefully let’s her know that he is not ready. You have to respect the man for being honest. Yet, Chrissy had other plans in mind. In casual conversation, she tells Chink that she has not taken her birth control for over three weeks. Rightfully so, Chink was irate. You can’t just get off the pill and not tell your lover, especially if there is no other form of birth control being used. Understandably, Chrissy knows what she wants, but in this instance, by any means necessary is not the right way to go about it.

Mixing Business and Pleasure

Business deals between the stars of LHHNY have been proven to never end well. We’ve seen clothing lines go sour, music deals go silver-plated, and even autobiographies get read for filth. So what do you think would happened when lovebirds Erica Mena and Cyn Santana decided to start their own clothing line, HER? Let’s just say that by the fifth episode, Cyn finds out from their mutual business partner that Erica has been keeping all the profit from the business to herself (no pun intended). Cyn felt betrayed but that did not stop her from making her next move. She, then, meets with Erica’s ex-boyfriend/manager Rich Dollaz and asks if he can work with her to do a song. He agrees to do it if Cyn agrees to be the face of his new liquor line. Who knew Cyn could even sing and who knew Rich was a liquor entrepreneur? Now with Rich and Cyn officially business partners, that leaves plenty of room for everyone to place their bets on whether these business arrangements will prove profitable.

At least Cyn and Rich are actually working on something, which is far from what we can say about Peter Gunz and his imaginary business trips and deals. Yes, you read that right. A grown man making up whole business trips in his head in order to further his creeping career? While Amina was nine months pregnant, Peter decided that it was the perfect time to go on a family trip to try to win back Tara. Peter even went the extra mile to call Amina while on the trip and sadly sketched out lies about waiting for a photographer to start his photo shoot for the fake energy drink that he’s supposedly representing. With all the sense there is in the world to have, why on earth would Amina believe that any company would want Peter to be the face of their energy drink? How does he fit in with an energy drink brand? No judgment. After their sons were fast asleep, Peter decided to surprise Tara with a romantic candlelit dinner that soon turned into the wrath of hell. Tara let Peter have it at that dinner table, spewing out her feelings and all the facts about how he really treated her terribly to point in which she left the table mumbling, “I don’t feel comfortable.” As if he should? I bet Peter won’t be going on any Magic School Bus trips anytime soon.

Functional Dysfunction

No matter how dysfunctional these relationships seem to all of the viewers, they work for all of those living in them. We all may squint at our screens trying to make sense of it all, but can’t seem to quite make it out. How can they proceed to live as if this is normal? Well, for them, it is. Everyone, except for Yandy Smith, has their favorite pair of messy boots that they like to wear and some are muddier than the others. But at the end of the day, we all can learn a valuable lesson from watching these relationships play out and that is the valuable lesson on what not to do while in a relationship. The East Coast has been experiencing record-breaking low temperatures as the region experiences heavy snowfall, icy windstorms, and even thunder-snow. The harsh weather conditions have not only made carrying on with a regular schedule difficult for some, but it has even proven to be lethal.

A woman in New Jersey, Olivia Benito, went over to a friend’s house Saturday, after a fundraiser in Lakewood. She had a few drinks and then around midnight she headed home, which was two doors down. The next morning at around 7 a.m., upon going outside to remove snow off of her car, the friend found 66-year-old Benito face down in snow, just steps away from her home. After the ambulance arrived, Benito was pronounced dead.

A law enforcement member said it seems as if Benito froze to death.

“We found no outward signs of trauma or any signs of foul play at this time,” said Al Della Fave of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Temperatures had plummeted into the single digits on the night Benito decided to walk back to her townhouse.

The deceased woman’s husband, Louis, had figured that she had not returned home because she decided to spend the night over the friend’s home.

Benito’s death is still under investigation.

Freezing weather is suspected to have caused another death on the East Coast. Bai-Ping Wen, 77, was found dead at around 7 a.m. Monday morning in New York. A passerby spotted his body lying face-up on the Coney Island boardwalk. It is also believed Wen froze to death.

“He was on his way home from Chinatown. Every weekend he goes there to see his friends. But he is always home by 5 p.m.,” said his son, 45-year-old Hai Wen. “We told him not to go this weekend because it was too cold, but he didn’t listen.”

The temperature was just 4 degrees around the time Wen died.

“It’s possibly hypothermia, but the [medical examiner] will let us know,” a law enforcement source said.

February 16th’s 4-degree temperature in New York almost broke the record low set in 1888 of 1 degree.

Amber Rose is on her way to becoming the No. 1 topic of discussion this week, and it seems like just about everyone wants a battle with her. Wiz Khalifa, her ex-husband, is one of those people, as he is gunning for more custody of their son Sebastian.

According to reports, the rapper has accused Amber of being a bad mom. Court documents list multiple reasons that she is supposedly not doing the best job. He has said that she “often stays out all night, requiring that relatives and staff take over.” He also alleged that Amber doesn’t protest when “the family dog eats its own feces and then licks Sebastian’s face.

” That’s not all. According to Wiz, Amber and her mother “have a volatile relationship, laced with shouting matches and vulgar exchanges” which upset The Bash, and that “during the arguments the N-word was hurled by Amber’s mom.” He hasn’t filed any legal documents to change custody, but he’s hoping that his family members will join his side to push his case.

Khloe Kardashian is also joining the war against Amber, and seems to be at the top of the list, as she was not too happy to hear Amber’s recent interview with The Breakfast Club radio hosts. During the last 10 minutes of the interview, Amber discussed rapper Tyga and Kylie Jenner‘s alleged relationship, sharing her disgust over it. She told the hosts, “She’s a baby; she needs to go to bed at 7 o’clock and relax. That’s ridiculous. [Tyga] should be ashamed of himself. For sure. He has a beautiful woman and a baby and left that for a 16-year-old who just turned 17.”

Amber’s commentary definitely set off Khloe, who took to her social media to express her feelings about Amber’s comments. She tweeted:

Amber, 31, made sure that she defended her honor, which turned into a full battle of shots exchanged between the two. She wrote on her own page, “I’ll be that lil whore to support my family like ur older sister is a wh*re 2 support hers.” She also posted a meme of Kanye West on her Instagram that read, “When ur sister in law calls out ur ex for being a stripper … But ur wife has a sex tape.” The two continued to exchange blows throughout the day, until things came to a head when Amber finally tweeted:

Vivica Fox has been through a lot in her dating and love life, and one of her most significant relationships was with rapper 50 Cent back in the early 2000s. The 50-year-old actress recently sat down for an interview with Meredith Vieira on her talk show, where she discussed some of her bigger mistakes in love.

While appearing to be pretty uncomfortable with the topic, Vivica revealed that 50 Cent is “absolutely the love of my life,” but dating him “was difficult.” She said that she really cared for him, and she will always love him, but “he just wasn’t right for me.” Despite it being hard for her to let go, Vivica talked about how he is amazing, and wished him the best now that they’re no longer together.

Meredith commented on how it sounds more like Vivica had come to a realization, rather than listing the rapper as a mistake. The actress said that the situation made her learn to trust her heart, and to take the time to not settle. She made sure to leave the audience, including men and women everywhere, with some tidbits on not settling just before her interview wrapped up.

Kanye West took over NYC this past week, as he performed a private concert at the Roc City Classic, debuted his Yeezy 750 Boost sneaker with Adidas, presented his fashion show, and performed on the SNL 40 Anniversary special.

Though he’s more famous for his musical talent and zealous defense of singer Beyoncé Carter, Kanye has worked on his clothing line for years. While some might assume his marriage with socialite Kim Kardashian, whose line of clothing is available at Sears, would have helped him in the fashion world, he said it had the opposite effect.

“As we started dating, fashion people were really opposed to the idea of reality stars. And all the relationships, the somewhat friends that I had somewhat built up, completely turned their backs on her and me. They already had their back to her, and now they turned it to me,” Kanye told The Daily Beast. “The so-called traction that I was getting in the high-fashion world was completely thrown out the window and I was finally allowed to go to school, where every day I was in my mom [Kris Jenner]’s house, in my little brother’s old room, Rob’s old room, re-tailoring a Céline skirt, re-tailoring a Saint Laurent jacket, re-tailoring a Zara top, re-tailoring Wolford … And day by day by day, [Kim and I] learned, we got better. We looked at the photographs together and she improved my style; we improved each other.”

Kanye, who famously accused President George W. Bush of not caring about Black people, also shared his thoughts on racism.

“Racism and the focus on racism is a distraction to humanity. It would be like focusing on the cousin from your mom’s side versus the cousin on your dad’s side. We’re all cousins. We’re all the same race. To even focus on the concept of race, it’s like—perhaps people give me an extra cookie for the fact that my color palette is so controlled and I’m Black. When someone that’s like, racist, comes up to me at A.P.C. and says, “I thought it would be a bunch of animals on your shirts,” because they heard that I rapped. The outlet mentioned that his best answer in the interview came when he was asked about his high-fashion influences, revealing, “You guys know my f*cking influences. I’ve got four influences and it’s written all over the face, you know the combination. Just as much as Drake is influenced by Kanye West, you know my f*cking influences. You see Raf Simons right there; you see Helmut; you see Margiela; you see Vanessa [Beecroft]; you see Katharine Hamnett. It’s blatantly right there. I’m not going to try and act like I was influenced by a f*cking dog walking down the street that broke its ankle that I had a heartfelt discussion with.
