Smooth Criminal’s Mugshot Heats up the Web

Convicted felon Jeremy Meeks mugshot sparks a social media frenzy.

Stockton, California police sparked a social media frenzy after posting Jeremy Meeks’ mugshot.

Ladies Love Cool Jeremy, that is. The mugshot of a 30-year-old convicted felon has thousands of women swooning across the country. Jeremy Meeks was arrested Wednesday during a gang sweep in Stockton, California and faces weapons charges and one gang charge. Authorities seized four guns, two rifles, a handgun, and a shotgun as part of their Operation Ceasefire mission to combat the increase in gun violence and robberies in the Stockton area. Police say Meeks is one of the most violent criminals in the Stockton area. However, that little blip on the radar isn’t stopping the social media fan club from ogling the tatted-up, gray-eyed, convicted felon. As of Friday morning his mug shot on the Stockton Police Facebook page had over 55,000 likes, nearly 6,300 shares, and over 16,000 comments.

Here’s a sample of the comments:

“I don’t care what you did. I know what we could do together.”

“My Clyde…… I’m His Bonnie!!!”

“Girls let’s bring this guy to Hollywood he needs to be in fast and furious.”

“U got arrested cuz U are not a good criminal. .it is not working out …come home I make u a meal …gorgeous.”

One user has set up a Facebook fan page for Meeks, while another created a funding campaign called “Bring Bae Home Campaign”  to help put money toward his $900,000 bail. Of course, not everyone is amused by the felon’s exploding popularity.

Many find it disgusting, especially because it’s happening on the Stockton Police Department’s Facebook page, which also remembers a recently fallen officer.

“Some of the women on here are pathetic. It’s a mugshot photo. Not GQ Magazine.”

“You wouldn’t think he’s so cute, or good looking when he had that gun pointed at your head, or someone else’s face!!!”

Despite the differences of opinion, one thing remains true, Meeks remains behind bars in Stockton, California.

Kelly Rowland Debuts Baby Bump

Kelly Rowland’s body is so bump-a-licious. It’s official, a baby is on the way! The 33-year-old R&B singer posted a picture on her Instagram page on June 10 of a cryptic photo of baby sneakers beside her husband Tim Witherspoon’s Air Jordans, with the caption, “I’ll be stuntin like my daddy…” This of course sparked a speculation frenzy on whether she was, in fact, expecting.

On June 19, the Destiny’s Child alum took to Instagram to officially confirm she is expecting. The picture reveals her growing belly in plain view, as she sits in a yoga pose on a mat. She simply glowed while meditating with her eyes closed, while wearing a sports bra and yoga pants.

Rowland and her manager Witherspoon got married in May in a secret ceremony in Costa Rica. Her Destiny’s Child bandmates, Beyoncé and Michelle Williams, attended the wedding. The three recently reunited in Williams’ new gospel music video, “Say Yes.”

This is the first child for the newly married couple.

You can always depend on Chicago rapper Kanye West to spark controversy with his self-indulgent rants. This time around he brought a bunch of crazy out and confused many.

In an interview with Power 106 FM yesterday morning, Kim Kardashian‘s husband boasted of his unique “creativity and extreme genius.” He went on to slam President Barack Obama, saying “You can’t affect change from inside the White House like that … You gotta have the money.” But admitted, “Good ideas usually aren’t connected to money as much … Creativity and extreme genius are extremely cheap.”

He responded to those who side-eyed him for comparing himself to the late Apple founder Steve Jobs, saying people are misinterpreting his true meaning.

UPTOWN_kanye_west_i_am_a_god“Don’t worry about how I’m saying what I’m saying,” he insisted. “Look at what I’m saying and how I feel and how my intent is.”

He also had a warning for his haters who criticize his over-the-top rants.

“You do not want to go against the power,” he said. “I’m working on one mission, and that’s a mission from God. I’m gonna make it very clear exactly what I’m here to do,” he declared. “I’m here to help. I’m going to apply all the blessings I’ve got.”

Reporter Robbed During Live Report On Robbery

UPTOWN_heather_holmesA TV reporter was robbed during a live report of a robbery in Oakland earlier this week. Heather Holmes, a KTVU journalist, unfortunately became the victim of the story she was reporting.

Holmes’ purse was inside an unlocked news van parked just steps away from the crew and across the street from police headquarters. She was reporting on a woman who was robbed and beaten until Good Samaritans came to her aid. When the camera stopped rolling, Holmes learned that someone had swiped her bag from the news van.

Holmes took to her Twitter account to discuss the incident:

Being a crime reporter usually involves traveling to sketchy parts of town. But the city of Oakland has been especially troublesome for reporters. The New York Times reported last year every major Bay Area news station has been robbed, some more than once. One photojournalist has lost five video cameras. In one incident, an Oakland cameraman was punched and robbed of his camera during a live segment.

Beyoncé Is Returning To HBO With New Series

$

UPTOWN_beyonce_mrs_carter_tourBeyoncé is returning to HBO or should we call it H-Bey-O. Last year, Beyoncé had one of the network’s highest-rated documentaries ever with Beyoncé: Life is but a Dream. So it was only right that HBO is back in the Bey business.

Don’t expect the series to be scripted, as Beyoncé is sticking with what she does best — singing and dancing, not acting. The concert series, entitled “Beyoncé: X10,” will debut June 29, with a new four-minute segment debuting every Sunday night at 8:55 p.m. (ET/PT), immediately prior to a new episode in the final season of “True Blood” at 9:00 p.m. The performances were shot live in various cities during her recently completed Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.

The sold out tour began April 15, 2013 in Belgrade, Serbia and finished on March 27, 2014 in Lisbon. It included 132 concerts in 27 countries and 69 cities. Drawing 1.8 million fans over the six legs of the global tour, it was the highest-grossing female solo tour of 2013.

Beyoncé will perform the following songs in the clips of “Beyoncé: X10″: “Blow/Cherry,” “Drunk in Love,” “Ghost/Haunted,” “Flawless/Yoncé,” “Get Me Bodied/Baby Boy/Diva,” “Girls,” “Heaven,” “Partition,” “Why Don’t You Love Me?” and “XO.”

This seems like a win-win for Bey and HBO. The On the Run tour with Jay Z has had trouble selling tickets, and “Beyoncé: X10″ will quickly show fans what they’re missing. And the concert series will be a lead-in for “True Blood,” which has seen its ratings dwindle in the past seasons. Will you watch?

Knicked Out: Carmelo Anthony To Leave NYC?

LaLa & Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony, as has long been rumored, has opted out of the final year of his New York Knicks contract. The small forward will officially become a free agent as of July 1. Clearly money is not the issue for Anthony would earn $23.5 million with the Knicks for the 2014-’15 season. Winning, however, is.

Earlier this year he said, “Championship is the only that’s on my mind, is the only thing I want to accomplish, I want to achieve, and I’m going to do to get that. That’s my motivating factor. Nothing else even motivates me anymore, just that.” Reportedly newly appointed Knicks coach Derek Fisher, who has five rings with the Lakers and played against Anthony when he was with the Denver Nuggets, was instructed by Knicks president, the legendary Phil Jackson, to wear his rings when speaking to Anthony to show what would be possible if he stayed.

Although Miami and L.A. have been mentioned as possible fits for Anthony, most sources think the Chicago Bulls or the Houston Rockets are more likely picks. But the real question is: How will wife LaLa  feel about leaving the more high profile NYC for Chicago or, worse yet, Houston?

Since coming to NYC in 2011, where both have substantial roots, the Anthony’s, particularly LaLa, have been fixtures on the social scene. LaLa, who is also known for her VH1 reality series, LaLa’s Full Court Life and her previous days as a MTV VJ and urban radio personality, is currently on a high with her film Think Like a Man Too topping the box office. She even said on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live earlier this year that she thought her husband would “definitely” stay in New York. Now that it’s looking otherwise, can she and her husband  both realize their dreams by leaving NYC?

New York Times Detroit Article Omits Black-Owned Businesses

$

UPTOWN_newspaperMost would think it impossible to omit Black-owned businesses when writing about a city whose population is roughly 80 percent Black. But, The New York Times is accused of doing just that. In the travel section, the print institution ran a story on new businesses in Detroit’s Corktown area in its Sunday, June 22 issue, despite it being pointed out to the writer that African American businesses had been left out after the story ran online Tuesday, June 17.

Detroit painter Kelly Guillory called freelance writer Julie Alvin, who hails from Grosse Pointe, out via social media for the oversight in her article, “A Gleam of Renewal in Struggling Detroit.” In response, Alvin tweeted: “only realizing now that none of those businesses were black-owned and I deeply regret the omission.” Yet, despite that admission, the story still ran in the Sunday paper.

While the writer is rightfully being taken to task for her glaring mistake, it’s a bigger fail that The New York Times did not catch the error itself and, worse yet, ran the piece anyway. As several Detroit blogs and other publications have pointed out, this is not new behavior for The New York Times. Whenever the print institution has run “positive” stories on Detroit, they claim that African Americans have been routinely missing in action but, yet, are highly visible in “negative” stories about the city.

The Redskins Controversy: This is Politics

Redskins

For the most part, every analysis on the fate of the Washington Redskins brand name has centered mostly on the name itself. Whether it’s a couch pundit at the sports bar or a wide range lense take from a legitimate sports junkie sounding off, the debate pretty much splits between those who find it offensive and free speechers who believe we’re being a bit too sensitive about it.

The problem with the conversation is there’s no real political analysis on why, suddenly, the Redskins controversy got elevated to a major policy topic. Few are really asking how that happened, other than an assumption of public epiphany: so, we all woke up one day and realized the name was racist and derogatory all along. But, even after 50 years of desegregation, two terms of the first Black president, and a general sense of social contrition for folks of color (if not complete civil rights and empowerment), it’s not like we didn’t know the team existed or its brand managed to survive several eras of uncertainty sans mass movement to change it.

We did wake up one day noticing a once obscure conversation now strangely off the shelf and dusted for headline consumption.  A federal agency outright cancels the Redskins trademark – with scholars across the ideological spectrum weighing in on every angle. Half the U.S. Senate, as if it doesn’t have anything else better to do, signs a hand-delivered letter to the NFL Commissioner condemning the name. The Senate Majority Leader says he’s not attending anymore Redskins games.  Members in the House are now regularly jumping into the fray, with static from an unlikely source: House Republicans. Even President Obama chimes in, suggesting that the controversy had reached unprecedented levels in the zeitgeist. Whole talk show segments are consumed with it.  A notorious former Republican legislator just found himself nixed from his own Chicago talk show because he couldn’t contain a wild, epithet-filled rant on it.

But, where did that come from? There’s no social media moment, no humiliating hot-mic on YouTube, no grainy video of team owner Dan Snyder giving an epithet-filled tirade before a private gathering of 1 percenters. Typically, we find tipping points in social causes, sudden events that jar us into acquiescence to a particular point of view. This issue just suddenly dropped into the public consciousness as if we had gone through this loop on numerous occasions.

We hadn’t, but the politics behind it had been churning for some time. There’s been an active Native American lobby in Washington, multiple tribes and industrial interests focused on an array of issues from Indian affairs to gaming and natural resources. What is apparent is the rise of a very sophisticated and influential network of Native Americans with enough clout to dramatically alter the Redskins debate in fundamental ways.

Campaign contributions and aggressive lobbying on the part of nations such as Chickasaw, Seminole, Choctaw, Miccosukee and numerous others is more than likely playing a key role. More than 250 clients are lobbying on Native American affairs, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. The National Indian Gaming Association spent more than $470,000 on government relations in 2013. Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma spent nearly $500,000 that same year, and the Chickasaw Nation just over $400,000. Chickasaw has also dropped $500,000 thus far into the 2014 campaign cycle, spreading money to both Democrats and Republicans (perhaps explaining the strangely bi-partisan tone of anti-Redskin rhetoric from Congress). The Seminole Tribe of Florida is on the low end of 2014 cycle spending at $98,000, but on the high end of lobbying at $750,000 in 2013.

If you were in a market that suddenly aired 60-minute anti-Redskins ads at halftime during the NBA finals, you probably didn’t know that was courtesy of the California-based Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation.  But, you also weren’t aware Yocha Dehe spent nearly $600,000 in combined campaign contributions and lobbying expenditures since 2013.

But, changing demographics in the nation’s capital also play an enormous role in shaping the debate.  The Washington, D.C. “DMV” metro area is now overrun by a younger, whiter crowd of educated urban professionals sensitive to perceptions of racial bias. Which is a bit rich … given the rapid and disruptive displacement of lower-to-middle income people of color from D.C. as many whites moved in flipping houses and raising property values. Ultimately, new urban residents aren’t as comfortable with their hometown football team sporting a racialized moniker. Pressure ensues, especially as local government officials engage in quiet off-and-on talks with Snyder about moving the team stadium back into D.C. away from its majority-black Prince George’s County suburb.  Dominant yuppie constituents in D.C. aren’t feeling that proposition if they have to bear the guilt of supporting a demeaning brand.

The list is thick with Indian political interests able to use it for symbolic muscle flexing. Let’s not kid ourselves: this isn’t – really – about the name. Using the Redskins controversy as a social justice platform creates an entry on other much more complex business issues as nations seek greater influence on the proliferation of casinos and use of reservation land for resource tapping. Concessions can be drawn as easily as blood; if the NFL keeps playing it stubborn, the nations will keep applying pressure by filling up politician war chests.  Eventually, that could lead to enough pressure for lawmakers on both sides to reconsider the NFL league office’s tax-exempt status, a prospect that could cut into the obscene salary Commissioner Roger Goodell gets paid – reported at $74 million just between 2011 and 2013.  Hitting the Redskins is hitting the NFL where it hurts: Washington’s football team is not only one of the most wealthy in the league, but it’s also a primary vessel for league lobbying due to it’s obvious geography.  There are other issues that we are not privy to at work, but something of a complicated political shakedown is occurring.

And while Native Americans count for only 2 percent of the population, their political presence and vote on and off the reservation can impact crucial races; they already account for slim decisive margins in places like Alaska, North Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, New Mexico and elsewhere.  The way the Native American nations are playing it at the moment is how true modern political process works.  In it we see something like a gritty poetic justice for indigenous Americans nearly wiped out of existence by white settlers over hundreds of years. We shouldn’t dismiss the irony … and we could learn a thing or two from it.

Box Office Magic: 4 Things You Didn’t Know About “Think Like a Man Too”

think like a man too still

Sony ScreenGem’s Think Like A Man Too earned a solid $30 million at the box office this past weekend. The Will “Power” Packer-produced comedy starring Kevin Hart, Meagan Good, Taraji Henson and Gabrielle Union opened in 2,225 theaters nationwide. According to Sony’s early reports, 40% of the film’s audience was under the age of 30 (37% male and 63% female).

Here are four things you may not know about the film:

1). Last week Think Like a Man Too director Tim Story inked a two-year first look deal with HBO. Under the terms of the deal, Story will develop and produce comedy and drama projects for the cable network. This is no small feat for an African-American in Hollywood. Very few African-Americans have first look deals with broadcast and cable networks (it is worth noting that Russell Simmons also has a first look deal with HBO). Story has also directed Ride Along, Barbershop and Fantastic Four.

2). Think Like A Man Too marks the fifth time Kevin Hart has starred in a movie that opened at No. 1. Hart is currently working on several other films, including the Chris Rock-directed film “Finally Famous,” about a comedian trying to make it as a serious actor when his reality-tv star fiance talks him into broadcasting their wedding on her television show. He is also in pre-production for such films as Who Shot The Sherriff? and Captain Underpants.

3). Ordinarily films with global distribution are released in multiple countries the same day or at least the same week as the US release. With Think Like A Man Too, it will be months before the film is released in many other countries. While Think Like a Man Too was released in the United States and Canada this past weekend, anxious theatergoers in the UK will have to wait until September 19, 2014, the scheduled UK release date. Also, the film won’t hit Germany until October 9, 2014.

4). One of the key African-American film executives instrumental in bringing Think Like a Man Too to fruition is James Lopez. Lopez is the Senior Vice President of Production at ScreenGems, the company who greenlit and distributed the film. Lopez joined the company in 2010 and has also been responsible for green lighting such films as the original Think Like A Man and About Last Night.

The award for no censorship and tons of F-bombs being dropped goes to the 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards.  For the first time in decades, the award show honoring the best in soaps, game shows, talk, children’s and cooking shows was not televised on a major network or cable outlet. The show was live streamed online Sunday and the host — Kathy Griffin, and several presenters (especially “The Talk” co-host Sharon Osbourne) let the curse words fly since the show was without censorship.

Ellen DeGeneres, Steve Harvey and the soap opera “The Young and the Restless” were among the winners. The “Ellen DeGeneres Show” received it’s eighth trophy as outstanding entertainment talk show at the awards ceremony in Beverly Hills. The “Steve Harvey Show” was honored as outstanding informative talk show while Harvey won as best game show host for “Family Feud.”

CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” took home six awards, including honors for best drama series and best lead actor for star Billy Miller. Eileen Davidson of NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” was named best drama series actress.

ABC’s “Good Morning America” won the best morning program Emmy.

The Daytime Emmys also introduced new awards for Spanish-language shows. Winners include Telemundo’s “Un Nuevo Dia” as best morning program, to CNNE’s “Clix” as best entertainment show and to Rodner Figueroa of Univision’s “El Gordo y la Flaca” as best daytime talent in Spanish.

CBS, which received eight creative arts Daytime Emmys for technical achievements at a ceremony last week, emerged as the network leader with a total of 14 awards after Sunday’s ceremony.

PBS received a combined 13 awards, with six for HUB Network; five for TOLN.com; four for ABC and three for NBC.

Several winners were no shows for the event, including Ellen DeGeneres, Steve Harvey, Katie Couric (Best Talk Show Host, “Katie”), and Dr. Oz (Best Talk Show Host, “Dr. Oz”).

Marfan Syndrome Diagnosis Ends NBA Prospect’s Career Before It Starts

Imagine you are one step away from making your dreams come true, and a trip to the doctor sends that dream crashing into the ground. That’s the story for former Baylor center Isaiah Austin. Austin left school early to enter this week’s NBA draft, but doctors discovered he has Marfan syndrome; a rare genetic disorder that affects his heart. Austin also suffers from partial blindness.

According to the Mayo Clinic, complications from Marfan syndrome can weaken the aorta, the artery that supplies blood from the heart to the rest of the body.
“They told me that my arteries in my heart are enlarged and that if I overwork myself or push too hard that my heart could rupture,” Austin said in a brief interview with ESPN. “The draft is four days away and I had a dream that my name was going to be called.”

The 7-foot-1 center declared for the draft after his sophomore season, in which he averaged 11.2 points and 5.5 rebounds on a Baylor team that reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Wisconsin, a Final Four qualifier. During his final season with the Bears, Austin revealed that he had a prosthetic right eye after multiple operations couldn’t repair a detached retina. The eye was damaged when a previous injury was aggravated doing a routine dunk before a middle school game. He started 72 of 73 games for the Bears during his college career.

Austin took to Twitter after making his announcement about his condition on ESPN, “Words can’t explain how thankful I am for the time I had to play this wonderful sport. It changed my life forever.”

He also went on to thank his fans and supporters, “ I would love to thank EVERYONE who has reached out to me. Toughest days of my life. But not the last! Life goes on. GOD IS STILL GREAT!”

Kimye Throws Baby North a ‘Kidchella’ Festival for 1st Birthday

Mr. and Mrs. Kanye West threw their daughter a massive first birthday party over the weekend and called it “Kidchella.” What else could we expect from the Grammy-winning, over-the-top, rapper turned fashion enthusiast, Kanye and his wife, reality-show slayer, Kim Kardashian?

They made sure that their daughter North West‘s first birthday was done lavishly in true Kimye style! North turned one last Sunday, June 15th, and the party was on June 21st. The Kidchella party was a play on the popular adult music festival, Coachella. The party featured music stages, Coachella-like hippie headbands, and a huge Ferris wheel that baby Nori probably won’t remember. It’s no surprise that music was the theme of the party with Kanye as her dad.

Khloe Kardashian post from Kidchella

The Kardashian Klan took to Instagram over the weekend, posting pictures and videos of the fun-filled event. Kendall Jenner posted a video of herself and Kylie Jenner singing karaoke at what seems to be the Kidchella main stage with the caption: “Had way to much fun at a children’s party’s. Kidchella 2014 killed it.” Mama Kris Jenner posted similar videos and a breathtaking view of the mountains and party scene with the caption: “View from the Ferris Wheel. #Norths1stBirthday #Kidchella”

For a first birthday to some, this may seem wayyy over the top. But aren’t all first birthdays over the top? The kid will grow up not remembering the party, but it will always makes for fun stories. Baby Nori will have stories that will last a lifetime that all begin with: Remember that that time we threw you your very own Kidchella? Baby Nori has no worries.

New Study Links Pesticides Exposure to Autism

UPTOWN_farmer_spraying_pesticide

A new study released June 23 suggests that women exposed to pesticides during pregnancy leads to higher risks of autism in their children. The study conducted by the MIND Institute at the University of California, Davis monitored over 1,000 families, asking questions about the child’s behavior, mother’s address during pregnancy, and other lifestyle questions. The study linked the mother’s location during pregnancy to the children’s autism.

Mothers who were pregnant while living near places with a high level of pesticide exposure, such as farms and golf-courses, were found more likely to have a child with autism. The pesticides incapacitate insects by breaking down their nervous system. Adults are immune to this harm because their brains and nervous systems are fully-formed and have adapted special filters. Young and unborn children, however, do not have these same filters and are negatively impacted by the pesticides, leading to or causing autism.

UPTOWN_pregnant_womanThis link between autism and location, however, is not accepted by all.
Philippe Grandjean of the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston has pointed out a major flaw, which is the incomplete data at the time of this study. Grandjean says that urine and blood samples were not collected from the pregnant women to measure the levels of pesticide exposure, since this study looked back in time. Because of this, the study cannot absolutely say that the pesticides are the cause of the autism in the affected children.

While it is likely, the link was not scientifically proven. Women in their third trimester are encouraged to be cautious of their environment, as well as, the commercially-available pesticides they use in their own homes. The third trimester is when the child is most at risk, so although this study is not universally accepted, it is better to play it safe for the well-being of the child.

When a Woman Becomes Indifferent, the Relationship is a Wrap

Robin Thicke has made a lot of unfortunate — private AND public — choices in his marriage that contributed to his separation from wife Paula Patton. While I can’t claim to know his specific situation, I, like many other men, can definitely relate to what he’s going through. There’s nothing uniquely groundbreaking about a man screwing up his relationship, and then doing everything he can to win back his wife or girlfriend. I’ve been in that situation, but there’s one very important lesson I learned that I need to share with grovelling men around the world. In a relationship, the opposite of LOVE is not HATE; it’s INDIFFERENCE. And when a woman becomes indifferent, bringing her back into the fold is damn near impossible.

Although hate is a strong word, it’s possible to near the end of a relationship and damn near hate your significant other while you’re still together. You guys fight all the time, over the most random and innocuous bullshit. You enjoy spending time away from each other. Hell, you even start seriously planning what your life will be like in the near future when you’re finally “free.”

Yet, there’s always something that keeps your roller coaster relationship together, and that connection can be mind-blowing sex, the kids, fear of being single, or even just plain ol’ nostalgia. The thing is, once that string snaps and whatever bond a woman had to her man and their relationship is broken, it’s pretty much broken forever. Once a woman becomes indifferent, she no longer has any compulsion to be a rider on the emotional roller coaster. But a willingness to take that ride is IMPERATIVE in a long-term relationship because getting back together doesn’t ensure a lifetime of smooth sailing. Another issue will pop up sometime in the future, but if her emotional investment isn’t there, she won’t fight for a damn thing. But fellas, you don’t need to worry about that – because when she becomes indifferent to you, taking you back is as unlikely as GQ featuring Michael Jordan for his sartorial dame. It ain’t gonna happen!

UPTOWN_paula_patton_robin_thickeWhat men like Robin Thicke need to know is that a woman will complete self-analysis, -introspection, and -improvement BEFORE she is completely DONE with the relationship. Before a woman leaves a man, she will typically give his ass all kinds of signs and warnings to let him know how close she is to being done with him. But sometimes, as men, we take that as “bitching” or her “usual complaining,” when the truth is that she is giving us ample notice that we need to change ASAP. As men, it’s critically important that we stay emotionally in-tune with our woman and hop off macho-misogynistic shit like, “Man, this bitch out here complaining AGAIN!” No idiot, your woman is seriously informing you that you don’t have much time or chances left.

Let me make it simple for you, bruh … If you show up at your girl’s house, professing your love for her with some grand romantic gesture, and her response isn’t tears or passion or anger or anything with deep emotions, but instead she just scrolls through Instagram pics and follows up with a “Thanks, but I gotta leave now,” then your relationship is a WRAP! Cry yourself to sleep for the next couple of nights, take your ass away from the dating scene for a while, NEVER check her social media (before you see or read some shit that makes you RELAPSE), and try to move on with your life. Hell, she deserves that just as much as YOU do.

Serial Killer Claims OJ is Innocent; He Wants the Credit For Nicole Brown Simpson Murder

It’s been 20 years since Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were murdered. O.J. Simpson was acquitted in court decades ago on allegations that he was involved in their killings.

Apparently there is a never seen document that could possibly exonerate Simpson from the heckling and finger pointing that has ensued over the years. Serial killer Glen Rogers has written Simpson’s manager renewing his claims that he was actually the one who killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Rogers is currently serving time on death row in Florida. He first emerged as an alternate suspect in the 2012 Investigation Discovery documentary, “My Brother The Serial Killer,” when his own brother, Clay Rogers, claimed that he killed the pair and that he had seen proof that he was there.

Simpson’s manager Norman Pardo shared a letter written by Rogers with RadarOnline.com, in which the serial killer claims Simpson’s life has been destroyed for a crime Rogers says “he didn’t even do.” Pardo told Radar that Rogers says he doesn’t want to die with O.J. getting credit for what he did.

Rogers writes, “You won’t have to take me at my word. A full taped statement in your case was made in 1995.”

Rogers met Nicole Brown Simpson when he was working as part of a repair crew at her house in 1994. His brother Clay claimed he called him a few days before the killing bragging about his new well-off client and promising to take her down. Clay also maintains that Rogers took a gold angel pin from the home after Nicole’s death and mailed it to his mother in Ohio.
Pardo says he and Rogers are working together to get authorities in L.A. to re-open Rogers’ case file in the hopes of publicizing his alleged confession, and revisiting the Goldman family’s $33.5 million civil judgment against Simpson.

Pardo also claims there is evidence beyond Rogers’ confession letter, in particular, information that he claims is proof placing Rogers at the murder scene.
“I’ve gone as far as to get his footprint on a piece of paper,” Pardo told Radar. “What people don’t realize is that the size 12 Bruno Mali that was supposedly used [by the murderer] was used on 19 different shoes, including work boots [like Rogers, a painter, would have worn]. I got the facts on that because I got the letter from Bruno Mali. That, combined with the letter, and the [alleged] taped confession, the fingerprints all over Nicole’s house that they couldn’t match with anybody” could exonerate Simpson once and for all,”  Pardo claims.

Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were found dead on June 12, 1994. O.J. Simpson was acquitted in October 1995. Simpson was found guilty in 2008 for his role in a 2007 incident at a room at the Palace Station hotel-casino during which sports memorabilia was stolen at gunpoint. Simpson claimed the memorabilia, much of which was Simpson items, was originally stolen from him. He remains behind bars.

Authorities are searching for clues in the Amtrak crash that struck a vehicle, leaving two men and one woman dead early Monday morning in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Officials believe the SUV was on the tracks when the train, headed for New York’s Penn Station, struck the it. None of the 180 passengers aboard the train sustained injuries. The conductor was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. The derailed train and debris from the crash caused delays for commuters traveling to and from Boston on the Amtrak route Monday morning.

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Transit Police confirmed the deaths of a man and the woman at the accident scene. Later, at a press conference, officials confirmed the death of the third passenger, whose body was found outside of the vehicle. Investigators stated they weren’t able to find the second male victim sooner, as a result of the large accident scene. Police are continuing to work on identifying the victims to inform their families.

Questions still surround the entry point of the vehicle onto the Amtrak track. Officials face “very physically demanding” conditions in the remote wooded area. The debris left from the crash is about a mile away from where the initial impact occurred, which presents many challenges and hazards for investigators.

Investigators said the Amtrak train may have been traveling at 125 MPH due to speed limits in the crash area. They believe the train conductor may have hit the train’s brakes, which may have played a role in the derailment. “Once the train stopped, you can see parts of the vehicle was [sic] stuck under the train and the front wheels of the train are off the tracks,” one witness said, according to WCVB.

The passengers were transported to Boston by another MTBA train. Officials are expected to continue their investigation at the site.

Uptown_FBI StingAlmost 170 victims of a child sex trafficking ring were recovered during a week-long nationwide sting, that occurred in California and Georgia, the FBI announced Monday. During the crackdown, nicknamed “Operation Cross Country,” officials arrested 281 pimps in over 100 cities and charged them with state and federal charges of pimping, attempted child molestation, and prostitution.

“These are not faraway kids in faraway lands,” FBI Director James Comey said at an official press conference yesterday at FBI Headquarters. “These are our children. On our streets. Our truck stops. Our motels. These are America’s children.”

The operation recovered 168 children who had been forced into prostitution, some who had never been reported missing. The Los Angeles Times reported the children were found in the Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and Sacramento. Over 71 Georgians were arrested in the sting, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

UPTOWN_traumatized_girlOften child sex traffickers “use fear and force and treat children as commodities of sex” said Leslie R. Caldwell, assistant attorney general for the criminal division of the U.S. Department of Justice.

This is the eighth sweep this year alone. In February, the FBI announced that 16 juveniles were recovered and more than 45 pimps and their associates were arrested in a joint Super Bowl operation.

Operation Cross Country began in 2003. Since the program’s inception, the FBI has recovered about 3,600 children who have been sexually assaulted. Officials commented that children are being exploited through the Internet in an alarming trend. The FBI targets casinos, websites, escort services, and truck stops to recover children.
