Print No More: JET Magazine Goes All Digital

JETMAG_OMARI_HARDWICK_COVER

Johnson Publishing Company announced Wednesday the end of printed JET Magazines, reporting the switch to a digital format beginning in June. The Chicago based magazine, who began as a weekly publication, changed to releasing every three weeks in recent years. It currently boasts a circulation of roughly 700,000. The new app will be available on all tablets and mobile devices, with weekly updates, breaking news and videos.

“We were not able to deliver and to print a weekly magazine that was cost-effective,” said Johnson Publishing Company CEO and former White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers. “Over the past few years we tried to figure out how do we get back to the Jet that everyone had growing up, where they got information more readily. We made the decision that this was a great opportunity to move JET to a digital platform.”

JET, who was popular for its “Beauty of the Week” feature and wedding and anniversary announcements, began in 1951 by Johnson H. Johnson as The Weekly Negro News Magazine.  In what could be considered foreshadowing, Johnson switched to the name JET as a nod to how fast things were changing, explaining in the first issue:  “In the world today everything is moving along at a faster clip.” During the Civil Rights movement, the publication gained prominence for its coverage of the murder of Emmitt Till, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Montgomery bus boycott.

Current subscribers pay $20 each year for the print edition. Those subscribers will receive instructions on how to get the new app and to continue receiving JET. Print subscribers who opt out of the digital version are granted the option to convert their subscriptions to sister publication, Ebony magazine. Ebony, the largest circulation magazine for African Americans, has an average circulation of 1.29 million.

Honor Her: 5 Sentimental Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

It’s that time of year again! Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 11, which means that if you haven’t gotten a gift for your lovely lady, you have only a few days to get your stuff together. Flowers and a card are all well and good, but how about stepping it up this year? There are more sentimental and unique ways to show your mom how much you love her.

uptown mothers day journal smythson live love laughStart a joint journal.

Buy a pretty journal. On the inside cover, explain that you and your mother will each take turns writing in the journal. Each of you could have it for a week or a month or however long you choose. At the end of the time period, send the journal back and now it’s the other person’s turn! The journal entries can be questions you have for each other, a chronicle of your daily life or even a therapeutic way to release old hurts. This is a great way to maintain closeness for those who don’t get to see or talk to their mothers much or just a unique way to communicate instead of using the phone.

Flashback photo shoot.

As mothers get older, they often don’t feel as attractive as they once did. Although she’ll always be beautiful to you, she may not always feel beautiful. Help her get that old thing back! Is there a picture of herself that she loves (everyone has one)? Or one where you think she’s particularly pretty? Set up a photo shoot to recreate the moment. Have a professional photographer, a make up artist, a stylist–the works.

Mother'sDayBasket

These are a few of my favorite things..

Impress your mom with what you know about her. Get a nice-sized basket or pretty box and fill it with some of her favorite things. Does she like a certain type of movie? What’s her favorite snack? Does she like a particular coffee? Does her favorite restaurant offer gift cards? Give her a little taste of all the things she enjoys.

Ideas: Grab this dual purpose storage basket,  add coffee from Coffee of Grace or a Starbucks gift card, restaurant gift cards from OpenTable

Reading Reminders

If you and your mom are both bibliophiles, this could be a cute gift idea. Send her a few books that have characters that remind you of her. You can let her know which character you’re thinking of or have her guess. It’s a cool way to let her know what you think of her without expressly stating it. Plus, it will giver her a chance to read some new books or reread something she may not have read for some time. This can also be translated into other mediums: songs, movies, etc.

Photographic Memory

With the advent of #ThrowbackThursdays and #FlashbackFridays you’ve probably perused an old photo album fairly recently. So it won’t be hard to think of a photo of you and your mother that you’re fond of. Have the photo blown up and framed. If you want some extra brownie points, write a little something about why you like the picture so much or what you remember about the moment.

Tip: Order canvas prints from CanvasPop, Costco, Prinstsgr.am, or for the procrastinators - same day pickup at WalMart. Wood prints available from WoodSnap.

From Pseudo-Adult to Mom: How Motherhood Changed My Life

By Caprece Cotton-Sturdivant

Before I became a mother I would identify myself as a sort of “pseudo-adult,” meaning that I was “grown” yet still retained some of my childlike tendencies. My laundry might be piled a little too high and my dinner might be a bag of chips. You would’ve thought I lived in a dorm room.

But after my daughter was born and the shock of motherhood wore off, something strange happened — everything started to fall into place. It was like someone turned on my mom switch and I just knew how to handle my responsibility. Now don’t get me wrong, motherhood is a life-long education and I’m still in elementary school, but I’ve learned quite a bit so far.  Here are five ways motherhood changed my life forever.

UPTOWN_woman_planning1. Motherhood scared me, in a good way.

Becoming a mother made me take a closer look at my life. It forced me to be honest about where I was and wasn’t going, and gave me the drive I needed to push toward my dreams.

UPTOWN_pregnant_woman_apple2. Motherhood made me more responsible.

Remember what I said about being grown? Well, when you become a parent you grow up quick. Not because you have to, but because you want to. That tiny person fills your heart and brings out your best.

UPTOWN_woman_child3. Motherhood made me more fun.

Everyday I come home and get on the floor to play basketball, dance, solve puzzles, and read books. This is the most social I’ve been in 10 years! Childhood is fun, and having a child means getting to have a part of that fun in my life again.

UPTOWN_crying_baby4. Motherhood made me more patient.

As a mom I’ve built up an enormous amount of patience. You have to, when your adorable baby turns into a tantrum-throwing 2 year old. I realize that she’s learning about her feelings — the good and the bad — which requires patience from both of us. You can’t teach something if you don’t show it.

UPTOWN_caprece_cotton_sturdivant_mickey

5. Motherhood made me grateful.

Never before have I felt what I feel when I look at my daughter. Every fear, every worry, is gone and all I feel is an overwhelming feeling of gratefulness and love. Through this blessing of parenthood I am reminded to be grateful in all areas of my life because really that’s what life is about.

Are you a mom? How has motherhood changed you?

BringBackOurGirls Campaign: No Protection For Girls In Nigeria

$

On Saturday, May 3, I attended the BringBackOurGirls campaign rally in Toronto at Dundas Square, with other protestors seeking to bring attention to the kidnapped schoolgirls in Nigeria. Because my city is a melting pot of many different cultures, some of the attendees were born and raised in Nigeria and had an intimate knowledge of the social struggles young girls are facing there. Hearing them speak was eye-opening because it revealed that the entire situation is far more layered and complex than I previously thought.

UPTOWN_bringbackourgirls_toronto_rally

This is not simply about 276 young women who’ve been abducted by some crazy Islamic fundamentalists. There are some deep-seeded roadblocks to safety from the poorest communities to the highest office in that land. After researching Nigeria, I’ve come to realize the big problem with the #BringOurGirlsBack campaign: There’s no system in place to protect young girls in Nigeria.

We all want to see these schoolgirls return to their families unhurt and not raped, but I think it’s also a given that we want them to live free and safe without the possibility of retributive attacks or re-enslavement. However, everything I’ve seen from Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife Patience Jonathan is ambivalence and annoyance at this entire scenario. The abducted girls are Black, but this is not a simple race issue as some of us believe. There is something far more insidious occurring. There’s classism, politics, and high-level corruption at play here.

These 276 students deserve to be returned unscathed. But there are many other girls who have been abducted who deserve a similar humanitarian effort. How many you ask? Well in the past three decades, the number of kidnappings in Nigeria has gone from two in 1983 to 3,608 in 2013. There were 2,285 kidnappings in Nigeria just in the first four months of 2014, according to GDELT. Even scarier, on April 15 when the schoolgirls were abducted, there were 151 other kidnappings on that day. And 215 the next.

UPTOWN_nigeria_abduction_rates

[Chart: FiveThirtyEight]

UPTOWN_goodluck_patience_jonathan

Clearly, there’s a huge problem in Nigeria with kidnappings and terrorist occupation from the Boko Haram. Surely, the Nigerian government would be anxious to work with its citizens to resolve this issue, right?! Well, here is how Patience Jonathan has reacted:

In a report on the meeting, Daily Trust newspaper quoted Patience Jonathan as ordering all Nigerian women to stop protesting, and warning that “should anything happen to them during protests, they should blame themselves.”

Jonathan has allegedly ordered that protest leaders be detained, while maintaining that many of the people drawing attention to this issue are really just attempting to undermine her husband’s time in office.

The tragedy of this situation really hit home after I heard Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the extremist terrorist group Boko Haram, state that he has the 300 girls who are now their slaves (read: sex slaves), and he is willing to sell them to be slave wives to “the market.” The abuses these young women are enduring mentally, physically, and emotionally are unimaginable, so it’s scary to think that the government is more invested in “appearing” concerned to the international audience, than protecting young women from poor families. Let’s be clear, the abducted girls did not come from the rich and ruling class in Nigeria, so the government has little motivation to find them and keep them protected. While it’s great that the international community is rallying to help find these schoolgirls, it won’t mean much if the Nigerian government isn’t actively interested in protecting its own citizens.

Students Fight, Teacher Gets Fired For Breaking Up the Brawl [VIDEO]

A Detroit teacher was fired May 6 for breaking up a fight by using a broomstick to separate the participants. Tiffani Eaton, 31, was a ninth grade teacher at Pershing High School when a violent brawl broke out between two male students.

In a cell phone video that captured the fight, Eaton, who is smaller than both boys, was seen hitting one of the teenagers on the back in an attempt to stop the tussle. The ninth graders were filmed hitting each other and knocking over desks. The boys were finally separated when a third student pulled them apart.

Kiren Lowery, one of the boy’s involved in the fight, described Eaton as one of his favorite teachers, but does not feel sorry for her firing. He says she should have waited for security to arrive.

Fox 2 News Headlines

Chrystal Wilson, spokeswoman for the Education Achievement Authority (EAA), recommended Eaton’s firing, citing child abuse. Teachers that teach at EAA schools like Pershing, do not have a union, so Eaton cannot file for appeal.

“Unfortunately the method that she used, in terms of swatting one with a broom, is a violation of the corporal punishment provision under the Michigan school code,” said Keith Johnson, President of the Detroit Federation of Teachers to FOX 2. “But she’s caught in a quandary because under that same code she’s expected to do what is necessary to diffuse a situation.”

Both teenagers involved, ages 15 and 16, were suspended for 10 days.

After three years of marriage, Sherri Shepherd and husband Lamar Sally are reportedly separating. The former lovebirds met through mutual friend Niecy Nash.

Shepherd, who co-hosts The View, is rumored to have become fed up with Sally’s broken promises of a successful career. Sally is an award winning TV writer whose latest scripts to HBO were not picked up.

Rumors of cheating have also been cited as a reason for the separation. Since the beginning of the estranged couple’s marriage, tabloids reported Sally’s affair with a close family friend of Shepherd’s after the wedding. It was reported the woman was also a part of Shepherd’s wedding party.

A source close to Shepherd revealed she kicked Sally out of the house and has been refusing to speak with him. Sally reportedly filed papers on May 2 in Los Angeles.

The couple, who wed after one year of dating, tried conceiving a baby during the marriage, but due to Shepherd’s fertility issues the couple did not conceive. Shepherd has a son, Jeffrey, with ex-husband of eight years Jeffrey Tarpley. Shepherd, who also hosts The Newlywed Game on BounceTV, divorced Tarpley in 2009 after he had an affair.

Sally is currently in Los Angeles, while Shepherd is in New York filming The View. Neither Shepherd nor Sally have commented publicly about the status of their relationship, although Sally tweeted the following late Thursday evening:

Report: Nigerian Government Knew Attack Was Coming

$

goodluck-jonathan_

Amnesty International is alleging that the Nigerian government knew about the Boko Haram attack on the girls’ boarding school at least four hours before it happened. The report, released by the human rights group on Friday, echoes the accounts of a number of parents villagers who claim that the government has not done enough since the girls have been abducted.

Nigerian President Jonathan Goodluck vehemently denies that the government was aware of the raid on the Chibok boarding school which resulted in the kidnapping of 276 girls. The country’s Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, insists that the Nigerian government went into action as soon as they received the news of the abduction and Nigeria’s defense ministry calls the accusations “unfortunate and untrue.”

The Amnesty International report, which was based on the reports of over a dozen people, including two senior Nigerian military officials, claims that when Nigerian commanders were informed of the impending attack they could not raise enough troops to respond to the danger. The group reports that only 15-17 soldiers and a handful of police officers were left to fight off the invasion. “When it was clear these girls had been abducted, no reinforcements were sent to the town,” Makmid Kamara, a researcher with Amnesty International, told CNN. The defense ministry denies these allegations and says that the troops were first alerted that there was an ongoing attack in Chibok.

Still, many are questioning why the Nigerian government didn’t mount a larger response  or ask for help to mitigate the situation sooner. Secretary of State John Kerry said earlier this week that repeated offers of assistance were declined by President Goodluck. Now, officials believe that the girls have been broken up and sent to different countries, which only makes the task to find them more difficult.

“In a hostage situation, time is of the essence,” said U.S. Navy Rear Adm John Kirby, who serves as Pentagon press secretary. “We lost some time.”

The news seems bleak, but everyone is holding out hope that they will #bringbackourgirls.

Chris Brown Ordered To Serve Additional 131 Days In Jail

Chris BrownChris Brown will remain behind bars a little while longer due to his own admission about violating probation last year in Washington, D.C. The 25-year-old singer referred to his altercation at a local hotel where he was accused of attacking a man and charged with misdemeanor assault.

On Friday, Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin sentenced the singer to an additional 131 days in jail, although sources say Brown could be a free man much sooner. His mother Joyce Hawkins and supporters were in attendance to watch the court proceeding.

While Brown was sentenced to a year in county jail, Brandlin gave him credit for nearly eight months. The credits includes his time in rehab and jail, as well as credit for good behavior while behind bars. Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos believes Brown’s time could be cut down even more drastically once officials tally up his sentence.

“If he isn’t out by Monday then I would expect that he’s getting special treatment,” Geragos said. “I think Chris has learned quite a bit through this experience and I’m anxious to see how he does. As I think everybody else is.”

Reports suggest Brown could be released by week’s end.

Brown will remain on probation for his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna until Jan. 23. Upon his release, he will be expected to complete his remaining 1,000 hours of community service.

LaTavia Roberson admits that her skin tone has changed over the years, but it’s not because she’s bleaching her skin.

The “R&B Divas” newbie decided to debunk some of the misconceptions that she’s faced during her career during a chat with The Grio.

When she first started popping up in promos for the new season for “R&B Divas,” people noticed that her complexion was a bit lighter than what many Destiny’s Child fans remember. Immediately, it was assumed that LaTavia had intentionally lightened her skin.

“Lately it’s been going around talking about I bleach my skin [laughs]. You know, I don’t know if it’s the blonde hair,” she said with a laugh as she acknowledged the rumor.

The truth is that her skin tone now is closer to her natural complexion, and any change is just the result of her breaking one of her old habits.

“What a lot of people don’t know is that I used to—I’m a big, big, big, huge fan of tanning. I love to tan because I love the sun. I love the water,” LaTavia explained. “Once my mother got diagnosed with breast cancer—it was something that we used to do together—I definitely stepped back from that and I don’t tan as much.”

Roberson goes on to discuss her feelings about being booted from Destiny’s Child. Check it over at Sister 2 Sister

History was made Saturday night as Michael Sam became the first openly gay player to be drafted into the National Football League. The All-American defensive end from the University of Missouri was picked up by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round and final round.

The 24-year-old athlete got the good news by telephone from Rams’ head coach Jeff Fisher, who told Sam, “You are a Ram. The wait is finally over.” He was the 249th of 256 players selected.

Upon receiving the news, Sam turned to his boyfriend Vito Cammisano to share an emotional kiss that was picked up by ESPN cameras. The future Ram later hopped on Twitter to express his excitement.

“Thank you to the St. Louis Rams and the whole city of St. Louis,” he posted, along with a picture of himself smiling. “I’m using every [ounce] of this to achieve greatness!!”

Fisher spoke on behalf of the franchise, stating, “We drafted a good football player. I’m excited to get him on the practice field and get him going. In a world of diversity that we live in, I’m honored to be a part of this.”

A congratulatory message also came in from the Commander-in-Chief.

“From the playing field to the corporate boardroom, LGBT Americans prove everyday that you should be judged by what you do and not who you are,” said President Barack Obama, who also congratulated the Rams and the NFL.

Sam joins a growing list of athletes who have come out as gay, including the NBA’s Jason Collins, the WNBA’s Brittney Griner, WWE’s Darren Young, MMa’s Fallon Fox, UFC’s Liz Carmouche and Major League Soccer’s Robbie Rogers.

Why Kim Kardashian’s Critics Need to Shut Up

UPTOWN_kanye_north_west_kim_kardashian_vogue1

A lot of people are crucifying Kim Kardashian for her recent blog post. The 33-year-old reality star took to her personal blog to share her feelings on how motherhood has changed her perception of the world. Most notably, she says that it has made her aware of the prevalence of racism and discrimination. She writes:

“To be honest, before I had North, I never really gave racism or discrimination a lot of thought. It is obviously a topic that Kanye is passionate about, but I guess it was easier for me to believe that it was someone else’s battle. But recently, I’ve read and personally experienced some incidents that have sickened me and made me take notice. I realize that racism and discrimination are still alive, and just as hateful and deadly as they ever have been.”

“I feel a responsibility as a mother, a public figure, a human being, to do what I can to make sure that not only my child, but all children, don’t have to grow up in a world where they are judged by the color of their skin, or their gender, or their sexual orientation.”

UPTOWN_kanye_west_confederate_flagMany sites are bashing Kim for just now “discovering” that racism exists and being ignorant to the struggle that so many people, including her husband-to-be Kanye West, confront on a daily basis. Some people are shocked by her apparent stupidity and add this to the list of reasons Kim is the scourge of the Earth and dumbing down our nation, and blah, blah, blah.

I am no Kim Kardashian fan by any stretch of the imagination, and I usually join in on the chorus of, “Why is she famous again?!” However, I am going to take a stand for her here. In fact, I applaud her for this post.

Kim never said she wasn’t aware that racism existed. She said she never gave it “a lot of thought” and that she guessed “it was easier for [her] to believe that it was someone else’s battle.” There are so many people who still have that sentiment, especially coming from a place of privilege like she has. For those of us who have had more exposure or who have chosen to keep ourselves informed about things like this, her realization may seem ignorant, but we have to remember how many people never make it to that point. So many people live and die not realizing that they have sat comfortably in a bubble of privilege.

UPTOWN_kanye_north_west_kim_kardashian_vogue2I’ve heard people say, “Oh, just because she has a mixed baby now she wants to be informed about race.” So? No, really, so what? Since when does it matter what the impetus for enlightenment is? There are many before Kim, and I’m sure there will be many after her, who don’t truly understand the pain of racism and discrimination until it hits close to home. Having multiple partners of another race can help for some, but it’s a whole different ball game when your child is part Black. We should not condemn Kim for waking up to what’s going on. That’s counter-intuitive. We should celebrate those who gain deeper understanding and pull them into our conversations to further that understanding. That’s the only way to change everyone’s perceptions. Yes, Kim is really late to this party — but dammit at least she got here.

So Kim, bravo to you for realizing you have been ignorant about a very real and ugly truth. Keep pushing forward to gain new insight, despite what people may say to and about you. It is important for you to try to understand, as much as possible, as the life partner of a Black man and the mother of a half-Black daughter, but most importantly, as a human being.

VIDEO: What Boko Haram Leader Demands In Exchange For Schoolgirls

uptown nigerian girls boko haram video
On Monday, Boko Haram released a new video of the kidnapped Nigerian girls being converted to Islam and offered in exchange for prisoners of the terror group. The schoolgirls are seen dressed in traditional Muslim clothing while reciting from the Quran and making declarations of faith. The 27-minute footage is is the first time the abducted girls have been shown since their April kidnapping.

“Praise be to Allah, the lord of the world,” the school girls in the video chant. Only an estimated 100 of the kidnapped girls appear in the video released by French news agency Agence France-Presse.

In the video, the group’s leader Abubakar Shekau offers to exchange the schoolgirls for Boko Haram prisoners. He appears in separate footage but never appears with the girls. The demands are different from a previously released video last week. In that video, Shekau rants that Western education should end and he was considering selling the girls into slavery.

About 276 girls are still missing since being abducted by members of the Boko Haram terrorist group. Some of the schoolgirls who were able to escape detailed the frightening experience of being kidnapped by officials of the Boko Haram. Speaking to CNN, one young girl reported that she and two friends ran into the nearby bush, heading toward something on fire to escape from their abductors. The girl, who asked not to be identified for fear of safety, said that Nigerian police were warned in advance by villagers from neighboring cities that militants were headed for them. The villagers called for police reinforcement but none came.

Nigerian officials are racing toward finding a way to bring back the girls home before they are killed, split up or sold. Some of the girls may have been forced into arranged marriages with members of Boko Haram. Recently the United States joined the fight to bring back the girls home in a message released on Mother’s Day.

“I want you to know that Barack has directed our government to do everything possible to support the Nigerian government’s efforts to find these girls and bring them home,” First Lady Michelle Obama said.

Is Kenya Moore’s African Prince Married?

Kenya Moore’s African prince was a major topic of conversation during the season six reunion of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” It was assumed that Moore would reveal the name of her boyfriend during the three-part taping, but those plans were derailed by that infamous fight between the former Miss USA and Porsha Williams. When rumors were shot down that Nigerian singer D’banj was in a relationship with the beauty queen, fans and cast members were left wondering whether the African prince actually existed. Now photographs have been circulating showing Moore and a mysterious man, during a visit to Harvard University last week.

Earlier in the week, Moore took a moment to reflect on what could have been, had she continued with her academics and not gone down the path of reality television:

UPTOWN_tonye_cole_kenya_mooreIt was believed that Moore was just visiting the campus, but she later appeared walking alongside a mysterious older man. The man was later identified as Tonye Cole, CEO of the Sahara Energy Resource Limited, an international energy company. The highly-educated Cole was invited to speak at Harvard and may have invited Moore as a guest.

The evidence stacks up that Cole may be Moore’s mysterious boyfriend. The “housewife” recently told media outlets that she was not dating an African prince, and her boyfriend is an oil tycoon. She was photographed visiting Dubai and Lagos, both cities where Sahara Energy Resource Limited has offices.

Seem as if everything checks out except Cole’s ring finger. Cole is reportedly married with three kids. Surely, Moore wouldn’t play into the hands of RHOA nemesis Phaedra Parks, who has repeatedly called Moore a whore for flirting with Parks’ husband Apollo Nida. Neither Moore nor Cole are speaking on the relationship. As of now, it’s safe to assume Cole won’t make any appearances on the successful reality show because reality television ruins relationships Moore said.

Looks like the Knowles-Carter family doesn’t have the happy-in-paradise relationship they like to promote to the public. A video has surfaced of Solange attacking Jay Z in an elevator of the Standard Hotel in New York, after the Met Gala Vogue after-party on May 5.

Solange can be seen kicking and punching Jay Z as he backs into the wall of the elevator, and a rather motionless Beyoncé looks on. A man who appears to be a security guard attempts to hold Solange away from Jay, who is also trying to deflect her blows.

Although the footage is grainy, the outfits of each of the main people in the video matches what Solange, Jay, and Bey were wearing at the Met Gala. Afterwards, Solange exited the elevator first, looking extremely pissed. Beyoncé, as usual, sports an expression meant to convey that everything is happy in the world. And Jay looks visibly shaken. He ended up taking a separate limousine, while Bey and Solo accompanied each other.

There’s no word on why Solange attacked him, but keep clicking for Black Twitter’s priceless and hilarious reactions to Solange brawling against Jay.

Pop Rocks Sex Will Send You To The ER

Just because it fits, doesn’t mean you should try it.  The latest episode of TLC’s Sex Sent Me to the ER details one California couple’s bedroom experiment that was supposed to erupt in pleasure but ended up erupting in a lot of pain for one of the participants.  Mainly because Pop Rocks and vaginas do not complement each other.

Hoping for bedroom fireworks, the woman put some of the volatile candy nibs in her vagina before intercourse with her husband.  Instead of feeling tingly in her lady parts, she felt a most uncomfortable burning sensation in her genitals, requiring a trip to the emergency room.

Pop Rocks are basically a hot sugar syrup that’s been combined with carbon dioxide gas and cooled to a solid state.  Once  exposed to moisture, the candy releases the gas, at a rate of about 600 pounds per square inch.  Your mouth already knows what it feels like for 600-psi to be released at one time.  No judgement here on how people get their rocks off but the thought of that kind of activity in one’s nether regions seems like a bit too much.

We already know how sensitive one’s PH levels are down there and that the introduction of regular food, gels and creams can easily skew PH balance in the wrong direction and lead to yeast infections, UTIs and more.  Combined with the sensation of 600-psi of carbon dioxide going off inside one’s vaginal canal? That’s a good reason to place ‘put Pop Rocks in your vagina’ at the very top of your ‘sex experiments to avoid’ list.
