Chris Christie: How Much Can You Stomach?

$
0

chris christie

Amid the constant screech of back-to-back Chris Christie “Bridgegate” coverage, it was one of the more magnanimous and elegant responses a politician could make to rapid fire questions on the topic: “I don’t know.”

That was the shrug-and-step method employed by Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-MD) during a recent broadcast of CNN’s State of the Union.  Host Candy Crowley couldn’t contain herself, eager to draw a guard-dropping moment from both a sitting governor and frequently mentioned candidate for 2016.  O’Malley just didn’t feel like it, perhaps because he’d been too busy to pay attention (unlike the Mayor of the largest city in his state who had much to say about it on Meet the Press that same day) or because he’ll have his own problems when the state legislature starts hearings on the epic failure of Maryland’s health care exchange website.  Or, simply, it’s like O’Malley said: New Jersey residents will have to sort it out.

We start with O’Malley because the Gov. Christie’s (R-NJ) now existential political crisis raises one critical question looming large above all else: How much non-stop, show-to-show, unconstrained coverage of Christie scandals can the national viewing public stomach?  With news just dropped that Christie may be facing yet another investigation – this time from feds snooping into his use of Sandy funds – expect your screens to be overtaken by mobs of copy on the embattled governor.  Democrats will be eagerly weighing in because they’ll feel the need to take Christie, about the only real competition to Hillary Clinton, out of the 2016 equation; Republicans, giddy over his fairly solid press conference performance, will put a spin to protect … about the only good thing they’ve got going for 2016.

Doesn’t matter if you’re in Jersey, Texas or California, it seems you won’t find cable news outlets talking about much else – at least until the end of the week when President Obama is expected to announce plans for an NSA overhaul.

But, ultimately, how much do average public Jane and Joes really care about a bovine state executive’s troubles in the Garden State?  At some point, there’s an overkill element that slowly seeps in as we watch one show host passing off the hour to the other, one reporter passing off the mic to the other about the same thing we just watched hours ago then flipped the channel in hopes there was something else gripping the news cycle.

Obviously, “Bridgegate” – and, now “Sandygate” – is significant considering our propensity for presidential election predictions.  We want to know, as early as possible, who will rule the world in a few years.   And, if you live in Jersey, you should want to know if senior state government aides played traffic games at your expense.  Still, the problem with relentless spin-puking news focus on one big scandal is that it starts to pose more awkward questions about the state of media than the state of the politician covered.  It looks ridiculous and lazy after a while: How much more do we really need to know about the same emails?  Maybe get back to us when you’ve found other emails or when the governor’s fingerprint is actually on it.

The other issue is this: in the context of the 2016 race, is Christie’s fingerprint even all that important? Taking a step back, we have to ask ourselves if Christie was ever all that much of a serious contender for the White House in the first place. We think so based on a string of polls – such as a recent holiday Quinnipiac poll that showed him neck-and-neck with Hillary Clinton – but, those focus more on his general election prospects than his GOP primary prospects. He can’t get to the general without first getting through a ridiculously red-meat and presently anti-Northeasterner Republican electorate. “It’s laughable that the party that has previously seriously considered some fairly inconceivable candidates as worthy of the GOP nomination would suddenly reverse course and head over to a center-right candidate such as Christie,” writes pollster Charlie Cook in National Journal. And so how much of this turns out being a wasted exercise?

How much more do we need to know that reporters are so diligently immersed in the business of sifting through thousands of emails that the servers upon which said documents are sitting are sluggish?  How many more irascible Jersey state legislators must we be subjected to as they are randomly paraded through the cable talk circuit?  Is this really a national issue or is it just a Jersey issue?

Let’s be frank about this: corruption in American politics, particularly on the state and local level, are as commonplace as parking tickets.  We know this. There are – on any give weekday – numerous municipal or state capital abuses of power as horrific and salacious as this one. The differentiator in this particular case is that Christie is a larger-than-life political caricature with enormous political talent.  Jersey is not even all that consequential or battleground as states go, but the fact this animated Republican governor is running things in a solidly blue state captivates political junkies to no end.

But, does that qualify the story as an actual issue?  Just because it’s trending, doesn’t mean it’s substantial or life-altering.  And just because it’s important inside the Beltway doesn’t necessarily mean it’s important beyond the Beltway (a place where Congress won’t align its attention span).

Which raises the perpetual discussion in journalism about what constitutes an important need-to-know story.  If I live in Mississippi, do I really need to know the story about a busy bridge between New York City and its suburb (oops – sorry North Jersey)?  Or, should I be on the receiving end of additional information on where Congress stands on the unemployment benefits extension since a quarter of the population in my state lives in poverty? In West Virginia, 300,000 residents are without water while a major river remains contaminated – a real scandal more worthy of national interest and unremitting inquiries into government malfeasance.  Yet, how convenient when the important stuff slips through the cracks of a scandal.

According to New York Daily News, rapper Kanye West is under investigation for allegedly punching an 18-year-old man for making racist taunts towards fiancée Kim Kardashian. The debacle began when Kim reportedly told the boy who was inside of a chiropractor’s office in Los Angeles, that he should not make racial remarks towards paparazzi. That’s when the boy turned on Kim, saying “F–k you b—h. Just trying to help you. Shut up n—-r lover, stupid slut,” which prompted an angry reaction from Kanye. According to reports from TMZ, witnesses said Kanye punched the guy as Kim screamed, “We have it all on tape!” A massage therapist in the office had to separate the two men before Beverly Hills Police were called, but made no arrests.

UPDATE: The Beverly Hills Police Department has named West as a suspect in the incident.  The potential charge is being classified as “misdemeanor battery assault.” TMZ reports that Kim “has already met with her lawyer and they decided they will mount a counterattack by filing a police report.”

Repeat Offender Charged After Shooting and Killing Georgia Sorority Girl In Road Rage Dispute

Ex-convict Sparkles Lindsay is now facing murder charges after killing a Georgia sorority girl after a road rage dispute.

Lindsay, 22, and her friends had an altercation with Kimberly Kilgore, 21, and a friend outside of a Kennesaw, Georgia apartment complex, where Kilgore lived. Reports say that Lindsay drove into the gated community, escalating the situation to a physical altercation before pulling out a gun and firing multiple shots, hitting and Killing Kilgore. Lindsay and her friends fled the scene. Kilgore was rushed to the hospital and kept on life support for a few hours to no avail.

Lindsay was arrested only a few days later and booked into Cobb County Jail on murder charges, including malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony. No arraignment date has been set.

Lindsay had a checkered past of run-ins with the law, having been arrested multiple times for battery, fighting in a public place, and theft since 2009.

Transgender Student Charged with Battery for Fighting Female Bullies

A San Francisco student is facing misdemeanor battery charges after fighting a group of girls who taunted her.

The fight, which occurred at Hercules Middle/High school on October 14, happened when Jewlyes Gutierrez, a male-to-female transgender student, decided to fight back after continuous taunting by a group of girls. The fight was videotaped and has since been uploaded to the website of a CBS San Francisco affiliate. Many are wondering why Gutierrez is the only one among the teens to be charged with a crime when the video shows all parties involved playing an active role in the brawl.

“It sucks,” said Gutierrez. “I really want … like, the charges against me to be dropped.”

Senior Deputy District Attorney of Contra Costa County Dan Cabral says that the law has nothing to do with Gutierrez being transgender, insisting that laws become complicated when a student decides to pursue vigilante justice. It is advised that students gain contact with authorities rather than fight bullies themselves.

Still, many argue, that Gutierrez, born a male, had an unequal force against female antagonists. A new petition has been launched via Change.org, however, to have the charges dismissed. Gutierrez’s  sister, Melissa Gutierrez Poquiz, is hoping the incident will raise awareness. ”Hopefully it helps inspire other people in similar situations to speak up as well,” she said. “Because these hurtful treatments shouldn’t be tolerated.”

Terrell Owens Is Set To Wed Texas Postal Worker

UPTOWN_terrell_owens_fiance

Embattled former football wide receiver Terrell Owens is finally getting a ring … not a Superbowl ring, but a wedding ring.

According to TMZ, Terrell, 40, obtained a wedding license in Los Angeles with girlfriend Rachel Snider, 33, a postal worker from Texas. The marriage license expires April 8.

It’s unclear how the pair met, but Snider did not appear on Owens’ hit VH1 reality series, “The T.O. Show.” Snider is not one of Owens’ four baby mothers.

The past few years the former Dallas Cowboys receiver has publicly fought emotional, physical, and financial battles via reality shows and talk shows. He was confronted by three of his baby mothers on “Dr. Phil,” and he vulnerably dealt with childhood memories and issues with his father on OWN’s “Iyanla Fix My Life.” And back in 2011, Melanie Paige Smith sued Owens for back child support, but the case was settled.

West Virginia Police Describe Suspect As ‘Black Male’ And Nothing Else

UPTOWN_black_male_suspect_descriptionPolice in Monongalia County, West Virginia could be a bit more specific when describing suspects for capture. Earlier this week, The Dominion Post printed an extremely vague ad for information about a suspect accused of unspecified suspicious activity. The only description provided: a Black male, a description that matches, well, every Black male.

The common illustration was retracted by the newspaper, with additional information. The alleged crime included stolen credit cards, with a Black male suspect approximately 5′ 8″, in his late-30s to mid-40s. A picture was also included in the correction.

Of course, unfortunate incidents such as these aren’t rare, whether reported or not. Earlier this month, the Daily Planet published an article detailing the anxiety Black male students faced after police described a suspect wanted in a string of incidents on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

“Or they feel that people are looking at them differently because they are a male of color, and that the descriptions constantly say, ‘Black male,’” said U of M Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Danita Brown Young. “The problem is this: Most of the perpetrators of the crimes have been people of color,” she continued. “They could be Dominican or Cuban or Ethiopian. We do need to try to move away from those descriptors and just focus on crime.”

Is America Blaming Justin Bieber’s Hip-Hop Entourage for His Downward Spiral?

justin bieber
Is Justin Bieber spiraling downward? Some would think so with the singer’s latest effort “All That Matters” not being as successful as his past work. Many feel the “bad boy” schtick has gone too far.

During the summer, video of Bieber urinating in a bucket went viral. In latest news, police raided Biebs’ home, where his entourage also lives, and found cocaine. His friend Justin aka Lil’ Za was arrested. Bieber and his cohorts could now face felony charges for the egging of a home, which caused $20,000 worth of damage. Bieber has shared a tumultuous relationship with his neighbor, who recorded him speeding through his gated community last year and alleged that the pop star spat in his face during a dispute.

Bieber is often criticized for his crazy antics, but is removed from the scope of guilt ultimately, while his hip-hop entourage, full of mostly Black boys, seems to be blamed for corrupting the star.

uptown-eve-maximillionRapper Eve is developing an interracial rom-com for ABC that signals her return to the small screen.

Deadline confirmed that the Grammy Award-winning rapper and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment have sold a pilot to the network for the 2014-2015 season. Eve will star in the comedy and serve as an executive producer. The series is untitled and a writer is not attached to the project yet.

Kaplan approached Eve about the television series and the two pitched the idea to the network. Kaplan confirmed the news via Twitter:

The semi-autobiographical comedy will focus on the highs and lows of interracial relationships, a subject very close to the newly-engaged rapper-actress. Eve’s relationship with Brit Maximillion Cooper will give her a well of material to draw. She has been vocal about interracial dating and her experience with co-parenting Cooper’s four children from a previous marriage. In interviews, Eve has said, “I never thought I would date outside of my race” and revealed she was shocked by the negative tweets she received regarding their coupling. The two, who live in London, got engaged in 2013.

If greenlit, the sitcom will mark Eve’s return to the small screen in a starring role, since her role as a fashion designer on the UPN’s “Eve.” She was last seen in a guest spot on “Glee.” Her film credits include working with Vin Diesel in xXx and Queen Latifah in The Cookout. She has also appeared in the Barbershop franchise with Ice Cube.

Skin Bleaching IS Self-Hatred

$

Way back in the mid-to-late ’80s when I was just a young boy, I remember going to my uncle’s home and looking through his record collection (which I did everywhere I went for some reason) and coming across an album cover that confused my young mind. It was Yellowman‘s “Zungguzungguguzungguzeng,” which featured the albino reggae DJ standing tall amongst a group of beautifully brown children in their school uniforms. At that young age, my parents had never explained albinism to me, so my young mind couldn’t truly process what I was seeing. Yellowman’s features were very similar to any Black man I’ve ever seen, but his skin and hair color were completely different. Eventually, my parents explained everything to me.

About a month later, I was walking with my mother in the west-end of Toronto, through a traditionally West Indian neighborhood called Eglinton West. As we walked, I saw a woman approaching us with pale white skin and a long brownish-red weave. After she walked by, I leaned over and whispered to my mother, “Is that woman albino like Yellowman?” To which my mother laughed and replied, “No, Lincoln, she just bleached her skin.”

Hearing that at a young age was damn-near incomprehensible. Why the hell would someone do that to themselves? Why did that woman think her skin looked good? What was the actual purpose of skin bleaching? Growing up in a West Indian community, I was confronted with skin bleaching on more occasions than these. And before long, I realized that skin bleaching is self-hatred.

UPTOWN_dencia_whitenicious

As many of us know, “skin bleaching” is the act of using creams and chemicals to whiten the skin or bleach out the melanin of the skin. The phenomenon plagues the Black and Caribbean community, as well as many other communities of color, especially in Asia. Now, there are many different ways that people bleach their skin. But the one thing that makes me extremely upset, is the fact that some prominent members in certain Black communities are now actively promoting these products to the masses – and far too many of us are eagerly jumping at the chance to erase the beauty of our brownness right from our natural bodies.

Yesterday, I came across an ad for a skin-bleaching product by a company called Whitenicious, which featured a woman named Dencia, a Nigerian-Cameroonian pop star. This was specifically sad as hell, because Dencia was formerly a very attractive brown-skin woman who now looks like a cross between Lil’ Kim and Michael Jackson. The only thing sadder than what she did to herself is the fact that this product sold out in DAYS.

When I talked to friends and family members about her decision to bleach her skin, I was mostly met with the same typical response: “It’s her life and she can do what she wants!” As much as that sentiment may be true, that reasoning is simply NOT good enough. Not only is Dencia bleaching her skin, which she’s entitled to doing in a free world, but she’s also propagating, spreading, and capitalizing off self-hatred by selling whitening products, and that is unforgivable.

I’ve often heard people rationalize skin bleaching as a simple cosmetic change, like coloring one’s hair, wearing colored contacts, or rocking a weave, but that is complete bullshit. Throughout history, Black people have been taught to reject their skin color and everything that is a Black characteristic, from our kinky hair to the fullness of our lips. We’ve been ridiculed and belittled so much that many Black folks have been conditioned to believe that having dark skin and nappy hair makes us intrinsically ugly. And that is where the need to bleach our skin comes from. It’s not about enhancing one’s beauty – it’s about conforming to Eurocentric standards to negate Afrocentric aesthetics.

Black people, we have no reason to encourage, sidestep, or ignore this shit. Skin bleaching is simple but excessive self-hatred, and if we don’t start advocating the beauty of our Afrocentricity, these products will stay on the shelves – and continue to sell out in days.

Magic Johnson Gives Obamacare An Assist

Magic Johnson Barack ObamaPresident Barack Obama has called upon friend Magic Johnson to help people #getcovered under the Affordable Healthcare Act aka “Obamacare.”

The NBA legend has shot a video encouraging people, mainly young people, who think they’re “invincible,” to get covered under the health insurance plan. “Good healthcare is important to me because everyone deserves to have good healthcare.” Johnson says.

The former Lakers star has long been a vocal advocate of good health. Johnson’s announcement in 1991 that he was HIV-positive rocked the NBA world and sparked conversation about early detection. Since then, Johnson has shared his journey of dealing with his diagnosis while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He has segued his basketball career into many successful business ventures, which he attributes to getting checked out early.

“Early detection can save people’s live and I’m living proof of that” he says in the PSA. “I would not be where I am without a good healthcare plan.” Johnson details getting a physical and discovering the diagnosis. Free yearly preventive exams have been a strong argument in Obama’s campaign and induction of the Affordable Care Act.

Johnson encourages young athletes to consider injuries and how sports will affect their health in the long run. ”As an athlete, I understood the value of my health insurance. I knew that in my profession, injuries were common and could happen at any time,” he explains.

Johnson has been a strong supporter of Obama. He and wife Cookie Johnson opened their home in November 2013 for a presidential fundraiser.

“Magic has become a prime example of somebody who was blessed with incredible fame and fortune from a sports career and understood his next step is to build institutions and businesses and employ people and go into communities that folks said weren’t worth anything and find that they’re worth a whole lot if somebody’s willing to invest in them,” Obama said at the fundraiser.

Florida Theater Shooter Was A Police Officer

$

UPTOWN_curtis_reevesA Florida man who shot and killed another man after an argument at a movie theater over texting was a retired police officer, the Associated Press reports.

Curtis Reeves, 71, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Chad Oulson, 43. Reeves is being held without bond.

Reeves served as a police officer for more than two decades until his retirement in 1993. In performance reviews obtained by the AP, Reeves received generally good remarks for his leadership skills, problem-solving, and ability to manage stressful situations.

“Captain Reeves not only has the ability to act decisively when necessary but has the foresight to initiate the proper course of action to avoid conflict,” one job performance review states.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco says that Reeve’s praiseworthy career shouldn’t offset the seriousness of the charges. “It didn’t matter what he had done previously in his life. You don’t shoot someone over a texting incident,” Nocco said.

Officials say Reeves initially asked Oulson to stop texting during the movie previews in the Wesley Chapel theater. Oulson was texting his young daughter during the movie previews when the altercation occurred. Reeves then attempted to remedy the situation by leaving to inform management. Upon returning to his seat, Reeves told police the two continued to exchange words, and Oulson struck him in the face with an unknown object. Fearing that he was being attacked, Reeves pulled a .380-caliber from his pants pocket and shot Oulson once in the chest.

Oulson’s wife, who had taken the day off for a lunch and movie date with him, was struck in her hand when she raised it in defense. The bullet then went into Oulson’s chest. He later died from the gunshot.

Reeves’ attorney, Richard Escobar, is using self-defense in their case. Oulson allegedly threw something, possibly popcorn, at Reeves. ”The alleged victim attacked him. At that point in time he has every right to defend himself,” Escobar said.

The judge disagreed saying, “ throwing” an unknown object does not equal taking out a gun to shoot someone. CNN reports that Reeves had a similar incident with another moviegoer just weeks before the shooting.

If convicted Reeves could face life in prison.

What would you do if you saw an abandoned stroller sitting on the street?  As a good samaritan, you’d probably pull back the blanket, expecting to rescue a helpless baby.

That’s just what dozens of New Yorkers did, except there was no helpless infant.  Instead they were frightened by a red-eyed, vomiting, demon-baby – courtesy of Thinkmoto and Devil’s Due (who by the way, wins the award for best PR stunt ever).

The horror film hits theaters this weekend and to drum up buzz, the PR team unleashed an evil robot baby upon the streets of New York.  Just to see what would happen. Funny is what happened. Lots and lots of funny.  (And probably lots of temporary abstinence.)

Happy 50th Birthday, First Lady Michelle Obama! She’ll celebrate the big day on January 17.

As her presidential husband leads and serves the country, her noble place as First Lady has proven to be influential, as well. Mrs. Obama always leads with passion. But among the many important roles in her life and the country, she has also placed her stamp on style. Even though her everyday life comes with unwavering attention, she never fails at serving up impressive head-to-toe looks. From family vacations to public appearances to having dinners with major notables – she dresses the part. Overall, when it comes to style, the FLOTUS scores high for a number of reasons. For starters, she knows what works for her shape. Secondly, she picks items that are timeless and versatile, which is why we love to see her rework items time and time again. Thirdly, Mrs. Obama has a knack for mixing high and low pieces, which is essential for a well-edited closet. So, if your resolution for 2014 has been to recreate your closet – today’s honorable Star Style icon, First Lady Michelle Obama is one you should definitely look to for inspiration.

UPTOWN_star_style_Michelle_Obama1

For your next formal affair, give the impression of ease and elegance in a silk chiffon, Grecian-inspired gown. Obama looked regal in her gown by Marchesa.

UPTOWN_star_style_Michelle_Obama2

There is everything to love about this look! For starters, Mrs. Obama made a classy statement in her over-the-knee boots with a tulip skirt. Her look is modern, classy, and definitely one to copy.

UPTOWN_star_style_Michelle_ Obama3

Yes, the FLOTUS has curves and she is not ashamed of them. If you too are curvy and love stripes, but tend to shy away from them, then consider going for a diagonal stripe print. Anything diagonal complements your curves the best.

UPTOWN_star_style_Michelle_ Obama4

Who says that you can’t style your coat? If you own a coat that you’ve had for some time and absolutely love, consider giving it a whole new look, by adding a belt, as spotted on the First Lady. Adding new buttons could be another way to give an old favorite, a new flair.

Wide-leg pants are complementary to both curvy figures and lean frames – and are really fabulous on tall women.

Whether for a Sunday brunch, wedding, or business power move, a skirt suit is essential for making a poised statement.

For a casual business day, well-structured monochromatic separates paired together are ideal for making a polished and professional statement in the office.

Dressing down on the weekends doesn’t mean letting a look totally go. It is possible to dress comfy-chic by pairing a simple straight leg pant with fun prints, and a rockin’ studded boot.

UPTOWN_star_style_Michelle_ Obama11

Two things make this dress perfect for the First Lady’s shape. One, anything A-line is perfect for her figure.  Secondly, the pleats also complement of her curves.

UPTOWN_star_style_Michelle_ Obama12

Have you noticed, how many ways the FLOTUS styled her boots? They look just as hot with a long skirt and cardigan, as they do with her other looks. Another accessory that is making a major statement is her belt which she included in the mix.  She really knows how to add her own signature to many outfits.

Metallic is ideal for the day, just as it is for the night.

Although owning a white button-down shirt is a must for any closet, that doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Instead, go for one with personality.

Lebron James Single Mother

Lebron “King” James has penned a touching essay dedicated to single mothers for The Shriver Report. He says he is honored to provide a glimpse into the reality of everyday lives of single women struggling to raise kids, because it describes his mother to the tee.

In the touching piece, Miami Heat forward James, 29, details the sacrifices his mother Gloria James endured to raise him. He calls her his “champion” for overcoming hardships being a teenage single mother at 16-years-old, making tough decisions for his future and propelling him to be the man he is today.

James’ essay, while highlighting his mother in particular, also manages to detail the challenges women face while commanding a single parent household, instead of steering toward the negatives. He uses the principles of hard work and a determination to win to inspire single mothers around the world. Surely those same principles steered him and the Miami Heat to two NBA championships and two NBA Finals MVP titles.

After losing his grandmother at 3, James and his mother moved around to over a dozen places in less than a year. His mother took a job “anywhere” and “everywhere” to make ends meet. When he was 9, she made the sacrifice to send him to live with a family friend, where he honed his basketball skills while gaining stability. He calls the experience a “gift” for allowing him to sleep in the same bed, stay in the same school, and join his first basketball team.

His mother was able to leverage government assistance with a perseverance to win and raised him until he graduated from high school. He credits her for keeping him off the street and allowing him to follow his ambition of playing basketball professionally. Her influence has left a profound impact on how he raises his sons. He uses her story to encourage youth through through the LeBron James Family Foundation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Here’s a touching excerpt from the entire essay available on The Shriver Report:

Everything I know about being loving and caring, and sacrificing and showing up and being present in my children’s lives—I learned all of that from her example.

Gloria James was a working single mother who struggled and got the job done.

And for that, I say, “I love you, Mom. Thank you.”

Yeezianity: Fundamentalist Group Creates Religion Exalting Kanye

YEEZIANITY. No you’re not dreaming or watching a “Saturday Night Live” sketch featuring Kanye West.  The “I Am A God” rapper actually now has a religious following. According to the official website, followers of Yeezianity believe “that the one who calls himself Yeezus is a divine being who has been sent by God to usher in a New Age of humanity.” In an interview with Noisey, an anonymous follower says the religion is founded upon “5 pillars”:

1. All things created must be for the good of all.

2. No human being’s right to express themselves must ever be repressed.

3. Money is unnecessary except as a means of exchange.

4. Man possesses the power to create everything he wants and needs.

5. All human suffering exists to stimulate the creative powers of Man.

Ironically, Kanye does not practice the majority of these principles, famously rapping in his 2004 hit “All Falls Down,” “I went to Jacob with 25 thou’, before I had a house and I’d do it again!” But skeptics be amazed that the group’s founder, who created the group a month ago, maintains that Yeezianity is a real religion, according to the interview with Noisey:

“In a lot of ways, after I created it, I reflected on it and thought that this was just a rehashing of Christianity, but just throwing Yeezus instead of Jesus. And you know what? That’s why I felt Kanye did it. He just put the name there. Jesus has all this baggage and all these connotations, and Yeezus is this new thing — and that’s why I say in the ‘Our Savior’ part of the site, ‘We don’t speak of his public persona.’ Because Yeezus is when Kanye elevates to that God-level, which I feel like we all have the potential to do. That’s why if it takes off, in the future, people would forget Kanye and his antics, and instead focus on what the message is.”

As of yet, no word from Yeezus or his camp.
